On balance a lot of the changes made to the three films are worth it. The good stuff balanced off by one terrible bit. Empire benefits most of all from the changes. Jedis improvements are mostly really subtle other than the glaringly bad ones.

Why is that one guy in the Falcon's cock pit behind Lando dressed for Endor?
I actually have an answer for this. It's one of the helmets like the one Leia takes off when she meets wicket, they are rebel commando helmets. Not specific to endor/camouflage. There's one that's the focus on one of the rogue one posters too.

Yeah the first 30 minutes is sketchy. And goes on too long. This far removed I have a hard time imaging it happening a different way though. They had to get Han back somehow.

ROTJ suffers terribly from Lucas's effort to truncate his new Saga from 9 episodes to just three. When production started, he had pretty much abandoned making the prequels. By the time the script writing started, he had tired of everything Star Wars (and according to rumors, didn't want his new ex-wife to receive any proceeds from any more new SW movies) and decided to scrap the last trilogy*. With that decision, he moved to put as much of that storyline into the third film. Everything with Vader/ Luke/ Emperor/ The Other was supposed to happen in the third trilogy. So, in a rush to complete that total loose end, Luke and Leia were made to be twins. I'm not sure if his original plan at that point was to have it where Vader simply lied to Luke and wasn't his father, but I don't think it was going to happen that way. There's been nothing revealed yet about who he thought the Other might have been. More than likely, he had no idea. So, what we are left with is a hodge podge of badly executed, rushed ideas that don't end the "Saga" in any kind of satisfactory way.
*When he first started planning for sequels/ prequels, there were going to be 12 episodes.

I don't see what's unsatisfying about it, though? Speculation about intentions aside, I find that it's not only emotionally cathartic and thematically satisfying, but also ties up all the character arcs in beautiful and logical ways. The Luke/Vader/Emperor sequences are some of the best stuff in any SW movie. Vader's redemption and death are poignant, and don't feel rushed to me at all.

I don't feel that one act by Vader makes up for 25 years of being the second most evil being in the galaxy.
I think the twin angle feels totally tacked-on. And Lucas couldn't even make it work when he did the prequels. Leia tells Luke she remembers her real mom. Their real mom died, quite literally, right after giving birth to them. It was just written in to give closure to the Other plot line Lucas knew he'd never tell about at that point.
Now, I do think Vader being Luke's father works better dramatically, as does Luke and Leia being siblings. I just wish some of the details could've been worked out better.
That said, the whole Endor sequence is absolutely terrible and this movie neuters Vader. He's no longer number one fucking badass of the galaxy. He's a simpering pussy.
