I’m most excited about this. I wonder if the father, daughter, and son will appear in this?

Big fan of the idea of new potential series' in two very, very different eras. Each well outside the established "Skywalker Saga" timeframe.

:heartbeat:

Even given the difficulty getting movie projects off the ground, it's really difficult to not be super fucking excited right now.

This is the one pitch that sounds interesting and probably the one most likely not to happen.

We’re currently in a massive culture war about religious beliefs triumphing over supposedly guaranteed freedoms

What better way to get bums on seats than to make a film about spooky superpowers and god given rights

I think the culture war is a niche twitter....social media...cable news thing. Most people don't care either way they just want to be entertained. From a marketing stand point Rey meets baby Yoda is easy that's why I think its the only one of these we have a chance of getting. My main concern is I wouldn't be surprised if that is all they have and there is no story. No way we get a Mando movie they cant get people to watch that on Disney +. Dave Filoni is a good animated TV writer I'd be concerned about giving him a movie to direct. This Mangold one will have to have a kick ass script to really get greenlit. When was the last time we got a kick ass script from this company? There is a cynical part of me that wonders if announcing a Mangold Star Wars movie is to signal that they believe in Indy 5 and everyone should come out opening weekend and see it. I hope they all get made and they are awesome but I'm dubious.

I mean, we're in an era where things have been cancelled so many times that nothing is a guarantee. But I feel like with how much Lucasfilm seems to love the new Indy and how much Mangold wants to tell this story, I think it has a better chance of happening than not. His relationship with the company seems really strong and there's already been one (creatively speaking, we'll have to see about BO) successful collaboration.

There's gotta be less than a 2% chance that the Filoni movie gets cancelled, right? I'd take the under, actually.

At this point? All Star Wars movies have a 0% chance of happening until the second trailer drops.
