My friend worked at AMC and got me in to the employee screenings the night before each one opened. So I got to see them with like 10 other people in the theater. It was as close as I'll get to having a theater to myself to watch those movies and it was glorious.
Of course, I saw them all several times, so I also got the packed house/super fan/quote-along/lightsaber fights pre-movie experience as well.
The SEs were fun too, because they recreated the thrill of standing in line for a movie. And the changes made to the films were tolerable at the time because hey, at least we were seeing them on the big screen!

Aw you guys
There is nothing like sitting in a theatre on opening night and those magic words appear and the roar when the fanfare comes on. It’s fucking glorious. And then the complete silence when the crawl appears
Go see empire if it’s anywhere near you. You’ll be very happy you did. All the wonder but even better.

Tonight I got invited to a screening of the alternately scored Boots Randolph version of Empire. If we weren't in a pandemic I'd have gone in a heartbeat.
