My 11 year old said he was going to watch the original trilogy HD de-specialized editions all in one day. He couldn't do it. I told him it was ambitious and not to feel bad. I tried that at a sleep over when I wasn't much older than him and I made it 30 min into New Hope before falling asleep. My friend was pissed. I was the worst friend at every sleep over. Light weight.

You can buy the 97 dvd set for cheap as chips online. Each of the ot comes with a second disc containing the original films that were shown in cinemas back then. Totally unaltered. Warts and all.

I kinda don’t know why people especially the guys that made those despecialised editions, seem to be unaware of them.

I prefer watching the unaltered cuts except empire. The special edition really works on that one. Bespin particularly is A+ additions of effects and cgi.

Aren't those the ones that are non-anamorphic, have the huge letterboxes and making them hard to watch on smaller TVs?

Ive never experienced any of that and my tv is only 32 inches. Afaik there’s two different versions one from 97 and another from 99. The later has even more work done on cg etc so perhaps I have that one and those problems were in the earlier?

Not sure tbh
