At least I can follow this plot? Kind of. Not fully making sense of the Jango/Clone army connection.

It's a little weird. Yeah, like Ruddo said, Jango is the donor for the clones. All the clones are from his DNA, and are given growth hormones to double their aging. They are all like 10 years old, but are really more like 20 and battle ready. Boba Fett is also a clone, but he was given no growth hormones.

This was all set up by Dooku, err Darth Tyranus pretending to be another Jedi (Syfo Dyus(sp?)) who ordered the clone army. All with the orders from Palpatine / Sidious.

Just typing all that out sounds overly complicated. Another example of poor execution in the films.

Overall, I am glad I'm watching these, finally. Seeing them in theaters and forgetting them doesn't count. I'll consider this a first-viewing.

Despite all the flaws, it's good to see the overall narrative come together on screen rather than reading countless wookieepedia entries to answer all of these questions I have about the canon.

I do feel at times like I haven't quite earned the right to be truly angry at these prequels. TFA and Rogue One have made me a Star Wars fan more than the OT, so playing catch-up with this canon is much, much easier than the unimaginable feelings of dissapointment and betrayal most of you must have felt after waiting years between these prequel duds and then having ten more years to stew over them.

In the last ten minutes I've witnessed Anikan and Padme frolicking in the meadows of Naboo (is this Venice or Vienna or both?), the introduction of Jango and Boba, more Anikan and Padme seduction (now in the playboy mansion), and some borderline rape culture via emotional blackmail.

I lol'd.

It's awful. Just awful. Worse than the pod race and most things in TPM. "I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar". OMG!!! :shake:

Hold up.

If the Clone army used Jango for the template, then why do all of the clones in The Clone Wars look like G.I. Joe and speak with an Aussie accent?

Just about that dialogue and not to defend it but they're both totally new to that kind of thing. And if you change their costumes to 1950s outfits but not it actually works. Like American graffiti kinda. It's an innocence out of its time that makes sense.

Because Jango was played by an actor from New Zealand.

Jango (the actor) was from New Zealand and they all sound like him even in clone wars and Rebels. Technically accents aren't genetically inherited they're learned but hey. Star Wars.

I get a James Hurley vibe from Anakin, though I believe the lines and delivery that Marshall was given on Twin Peaks were full of self-awareness of 50's high school romance tropes whereas I'm not so sure that sort of meta acting has anything to do with Anakin and Padme's story.

It's not dialogue that stands up to too much scrutiny

Wait wait wait.

The design for the Death Star dates as far back as the Geonosians and Count Dooku? Wild.

Yep. And that's why you should read Catalyst. It explains the weapon aspect and how they just couldn't get it to go and that's why they need Galen back in R1

Well now that you just spelled it out I guess I don't have to read Catalyst. ;)

It makes Rogue One a better experience overall.

It does though. It's not as good a book as the other new canon books but it does serve the rogue one story loads.
