No point in burying this in the circle jerk that is the TFA thread since this is actually a theory about Ep. VIII.

All movies receive either "Best Movie Ever" or "Worst Movie Ever."

Will this be this guys second time as director?

Has he done anything worthy of it? I mean JW was terrible in both story and direction.

I think it's brilliant to have RJ write both remaining parts. I know all the main elements were locked down and agreed by him and JJ. So the final should be fine even if the direction sucks.

Ummm

Treverrow's aesthetic and directorial choices in JW, applied to the greatest scripts ever written, would never once result in a "good" movie. Hopefully Disney will be enforcing a pretty strict bible to keep the trilogy flowing well.

"Keeping it flowing well" would imply it began well. Come to think of it, Trevorrow is a perfect choice to complete what they began.

Most of all wondering, if he only has one big movie under his belt, how did he get trusted with this gig?

Just cos JW was a big commercial success shouldn't mean he gets it. Even Disney don't think like that.
