There is a new Rey theory that seems to have quite a bit of support. I've looked into it and I don't think it's any kind of real spoiler for the film. But I just wanted to give you guys a heads up. If you're trying to avoid all spoilers, I'd keep away from any info related to this film but also to Battlefront II and the comics and the novels.
Spill. There also seems to be footage from BF in one of the TLJ tv spots on a new planet. A walker shot
What we learn in the Battlefront II story mode seems to strongly suggest that Iden Versio is Rey's mom. There are a ton of YouTube theory vidoes out there that break it all down and get into the specifics. Nothing confirmed or anything, obviously. But we know Battlefront II is canon and the timing of release before TLJ makes sense. There are a lot of things that line up. It could go either way, though. And I won't be surprised if it's NOT actually the case. But things seem to make a good deal of sense.
theres also a screenshot of Luke talking to an imperial officer outside a huge vault door they can’t get into belonging to the emperor and they can’t get in and Luke is wondering what or why the emperor would be hiding so securely if he was so sure the Jedi were all dead. All intriguing stuff. Don’t know how it’ll tie into the film if any of it even does.
If you watch it play out there seems to be more in line with what I mentioned. But again, I haven't played the game yet. Just watching stuff on YouTube. Either way, I like where your head is at. There's just more after that part that leads me to think it connects to Ahch-To.
Could easily be. One of the comics is apparently settin up the main Jedi librarian escaping with some sacred texts. The ones Luke’s got there? Some cool world building if so. Good bet palps has either hidden or destroyed all that stuff. He had all the captured sabers destroyed. I’m doubting he ever knew about Ahch to. The Jedi didn’t seem to.
Yeah, I think Luke finds something that Palpatine had that then leads him to Ahch To. I think you're right about no one really knowing much about it or its where it was.
The stuff with Jocasta Nu in the current Vader run is badass. I'm really digging that stuff.
I didn’t know you were reading the Vader series! I really think something from it is going to come into play in the next two movies.

It sure seems like it, yeah. I guess I won't be surprised either way... but it feels pretty meaningful right now.
I really like the notion of tying directly into something as semi-obscure as the story mode of a video game. That gives a lot of hope that they really are going to capitalize on these immersive elements of interconnected canon they are and possibly leave the door open to further and further legitimize many of the "side" things from Clone Wars, Rebels, Comics, etc.

They are mapping all that stuff out and interlacing it across platforms. The Last Jedi will show us more and have a few elements (the books, barash vow, kyber crystals) or it won’t at all.
Trick is if you’re gonna have that stuff in there it can’t be required reading. you have to do it so the hardcore fans know what that is but the gen pop aren’t even noticing it or are feeling excluded for not knowing. That’s a fine line to tread and I’m not sure how important it is to the writer / Director.
That being said Rian collaborated with Claudia grey on a few points in her Bloodline book to tie into TLJ so it might be good to read that again before we see it. Gotta be related to Leia and kylo somehow. Or the political vacuum that needs filling.
“Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker watches from a cliff on the Jedi-sacred island Ahch-To as Rey (Daisy Ridley) practices her skills with his old family lightsaber. “Rian Johnson could have just made me another benevolent Jedi teacher but, you know, we’ve seen that before. And no one can do it better than Sir Alec Guinness,” Hamill says. Instead, this Luke is a broken warrior. And he sees dread in this young pupil, rather than new hope.”
