The only problem I had with "young Luke" was using him at the end. It totally tipped their hand immediately. I knew something was up the second he pulled the hood down at Crait.
I just assumed he came to his senses, and came to help out. But cleaned himself up first. I wondered how he got into the base if the door was the only way in/out.
I wasn't 100% sure what was going on but I knew something was up. I was like, "how did he even get there?" Then, "Oh, that x-wing under water." Then I was all, "but wait, how did he get it?" Then, "they'll probably explain that." Then, "why is he young? Something's up." By the time the First Order didn't obliterate him, I figured it was a Force projection.
You were ahead of me then. I took the bait hook, line and sinker. I WAS wondering why he took the time to get a haircut and color his beard, but Force projection never entered my mind.
I really like how this movie gave us so many more ways the Force can be used.

When he first entered the room and was talking to Leia i was unsure if it was really happening or if it was just a vision. When the scene carried on and Luke appeared younger and had cleaned up a bit....My mind went straight to "well he cut his hair and engaged with the force and decided to join the battle". I never once thought it was a projection from Ach-to. Even when he brushed the fire power off his shoulder. At that point i was still on board with him actually being there and it was all due to his incredible Jedi Power.
At first it was a let down when we found out it was just a projection. Then i came around to it and I believe this was the absolute best way for Luke to rejoin the fight and leave this world. Amazing.

Not to start a thing but I think in time we’ll come around to seeing this as one of the best Star Wars films. Sounds controversial but it’s got more of the true Star Wars elements in it and repeat beats of the OT then even TFA does. And because they’re so cleverly employed they bring them forward in totally new ways.
Johnson has upended the expectations we all had but he’s just showing them in a different way.
*ps I hated this movie first go. On my fifth viewing and it’s one of my favourites. And no I don’t love it simply coz I’m a fanboi and it says Star Wars. If that were true I’d love rogue one and I really don’t love rogue one. This ones gonna rise in all our rankings I reckon.
I think it will go the other way. In time the sequels will be seen alongside the prequels, instead of the ot. But Rogue One will shine like a diamond in the rough.

Don’t get cocky.
Tbh I think rogue one is already lost in the mix and forgotten. And that in time might work to it’s favour. I’m thinking there might be some connections to events in rogue one inserted into the solo film to tie it in and keep them all boyant together. Let’s see.

nope The prequels will always be spat on because they are legit awful movies and are only out in the public eye because they have the "Star wars" title on them.

BB8 was borderline terrible in this movie. All of his stuff was just too much. His plugging the circuit board and the ATST scene... I didn't like any of it.
I liked when his head came off.

The prequels are just absolute garbage from top to bottom. Their best moments are simply okay, and they get worse as time goes by. The three new Star Wars movies all make that abundantly clear.

I can't imagine how anyone could think there are action sequences in TFA or TLJ that even approach the climax of TPM. I mean, "Duel of the Fates"? Come on.

While that may be true, Ewan MacGregor is one of the best things in any of the Star wars movies.
