It was an example. I'm talking about measuring objective reality and separating it from subjectivity.

what? objective reality? in Star Wars? Damn.
In everything. It can be done when analyzing films, too.

:haha:

Just enjoy the movie or not man, but makeup? whatever.

Can we talk about how good Hamill is in this movie? Maybe his best work ?

He didn’t pick on that point because it’s unassailable. It’s is a powerhouse Oscar worthy performance for Mark Hamill as Luke.
Someone we haven’t seen onscreen in forever and he brings that??? Amazing

It really is. I remember watching the movie for the first time and being blown away with him. The looks, the quiet moments, the final battle with Kylo. Hell, even the flashbacks...and goddamn, the scene with Yoda. I love that part in the doc where Luke and Yoda are interacting. Its so fucking mind blowing.

You’ve just reminded me how fantastic that doco is. It’s beautiful. It’s brilliant

No doubt tree hasn’t seen it either.

I was blown away with the doc. It really helps you to understand the scope of the movie. And yes, after i saw it i realized how much of a fan Rian is, even with all the choices he made that i dont like. He is a fan.

BUT WITH THE CAST ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NEW MOVIE WHO FUCKIN CARES ABOUT RIAN RIGHT NOW

Objectively, was Luke's character change explained well and in line with what we knew about him before? No. Does that matter to you? That's a different question. Maybe you prefer this and like filling in the gaps with your imagination or from other media.

I won't say objectively because it doesn't apply, but otherwise yes. Luke's character change was well explained and in line with what we knew about him before.

Let's not get carried away here calling Hamill's performance Oscar worthy. I mean, come on

I'm with you here. He does a great job. But it's not an award worthy performance. It might be the best he's ever been though.

Be happy Burt.

They chose the best option AND they told us beforehand. This is great news.
Hopefully JJ continues this abandonment of his mystery box and let’s us in on the process.

Unless he’s keeping Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor in the mystery box.
That would be fine.

Attack on the Death Star. A new hope.

‘We count 30 ships Lord Vader. But they’re so small they’re evading our turbo lasers’
‘Well have to destroy them ship to ship’.

It’s odd. I’m sure I’ve seen this in another star war that nobody likes.

Ps next time some bitch says ‘Leia never used the force’
By my count the very first time she does properly, visibly, is Bespin.

She distrusts Lando immediately. On sight.

Tie that up with Yoda wanting to tain Leia in the first place, not Luke.
She’s more powerful better disciplined not reckless and can’t be tempted.
Except by that scoundrel.

Keep Christensen the fuck away. It was beyond stupid to replace the force ghost with him in the first place.

If he appears in 9 it’s the greatest pre emptive retcon in all Star Wars. George had foresight sticking him into ROTJ

And it’s the final episode of the Skywalker saga. He has to be in there somewhere

Why? If the character has to be in there, why the younger version of him? Obi-Wan didn’t become a young man again when he was a force ghost, so why would Anakin?

Yeah the official story is he appears as he was before he sent full dark.
I’m ok with that. I’d love to see him.

He became Vader DURING that period. Killing Younglings and all. He was traveling down the Dark slope since Qui-Gon brought him from Tattooine. Remember in AOTC when he went full berserker on those Sand People. His entire adolescence was him going to the Dark Side. He had resentment and hate almost from the beginning. He was only truly good at two different periods, before Qui-Gon (and maybe not even then) and his redemption with Luke. So his force ghost should either be as a little kid or and old man.

That’s what the whole prequel trilogy is there for. To show us how Anakin turned to the Dark Side. It wasn’t as if someone flipped a switch all of a sudden and BOOM, he’s Vader. It was a long and gradual process.
