The poll above states (DcT) edition. What's that?
I wasn't telling RM whether or not I liked the movie for a while. So Stip added that to the poll when he added different options. It's just a little RM joke.
Ah, got it, thanks

They had so much to work with. (i'm including TLJ into this)
- An open space after ROTJ with no legacy or canon restrictions - They got the three main characters to come back (?!?!?) - People excited to see the adventures of Luke et al. after ROTJ - A 10 year span between the prequels and ST (similar to the drought between 83-99)
And we get: - ANH remake (basically) - Two main characters meet up at any one time (and the one is debatable - Luke ghost/Leia) - the ANH remake leads to the facsimile which is the First Order (Empire-lite), limiting the story to another Empire/Rebels thing. - While character interactions are miles ahead of what the prequels gave us, the story lines are kinda boring.

You got the best thing ever. Something you can complain endlessly about using a second account.

Growing up I always enjoyed Star Wars, but certainly pretended to like it more than I really did because of my group of friends.
The Prequels really put a huge dent in my fandom.
Every time I've rewatched he OT since the Prequels I've noticed all the things that are cheeky and cheesy and obvious and awkward about Star Wars. Of course I still enjoy the OT. But most of it has been ruined at this point. It's just childhood nostalgia and desire to fit in. But none of them, save Empire, is a "good" movie.
But what I just saw... that trailer... holy... fucking... balls...
My imagination and my heart are reignited. That far exceeded all expectations. JJ Abrams gets it. He fucking gets it.
I can't wait for this movie. And I'm so thrilled to officially feel like a Star Wars fan again.

So we waited decades for Episode IIV, and they actually get Harrison Ford to reprise he role as Han Solo (which I would have never expected) and they craze leading up to this was stratospheric...
and we get a bigger death star (and a joke by Han about it, no less). And a near retread of ANH. That's the best they could come up with? And you get 15 seconds of mute Luke.

I know you and everyone wanted to see them. I know we all wanted it to be about them. Im sorry that didnt happen. But its not about them. They are there to service the new storyline and new characters. Thats it.

^^^ Read this BV. Then read it again. And again.
And its a total valid desire. It really is. I wish they continued making star wars movies immediately after ROTJ so we could keep seeing our favorite fucking characters ever to exist.

Alas....
Hey man i agree. It would have been amazing to get the big three again. But what would they be doing in that story? And how?
It’s endlessly more interesting to have Leia and han broken up and you find out why (they failed their son). Show what a fucked up guy the son is. And have Luke be the mcguffin on two fronts. ‘Where is he anyways’ and then the two big lines from han and Leia in the film telling you Luke is or feels responsible for the son going dark. This is what TFA did spectacularly well. It set up a trilogy. That’s FAR more interesting than any alternative.
Idiots like BV really think a film about 3 characters, now geriatrics, running around the galaxy on mad adventures and think people would go see it? are either really really stupid.
