Space Wizards/Cowboys are the worst
Is this one of those “It’s just a fantasy story with wizards and cowboys” replies, to justify the existence of shitty storytelling?
Yes, there are space cowboys and space wizards, a big walking dog, etc, but the OT presented this stuff in such a matter that they took their own universe seriously. We’re compelled to root for the big hairy carpet, the 3 foot green muppet and the Ewoks. We believe the Force and the light and dark sides, because within the universe the story and the characters take it seriously.
All that is shit upon with the ST. The stories don’t take the universe seriously, which makes the characters not take their own universe seriously, and thus, the audience can’t take it seriously. Well, some viewers can and some can’t. Some can see past it and realize the failings of the new movies.

Absolutely. At the time I absolutely loved the ending as well.
Me too.
It's no secret, I call the ST "my Star Wars." It's the trilogy that means the most to me. And it all started with The Force Awakens. This movie really did a number on me. It completely re-ignited my love with this franchise.
