The Ms Marvel credit is the more relevant one, isn't it? What's the new Star Wars movie more likely to resemble, an MCU action/adventure show or the Academy Award winner for best documentary in the short subject category?
In any case, that little video is obviously an excerpt from something longer, and also she's probably not allowed to disclose much about her plans just yet.

I think when someone comes from a specific background and they say that said background will inform their approach to their new project then there's value there.
But really that wasn't the point I was making. I was responding to why she might very specifically want to list her bonafides to a fanbase that's been dismissive and awful to her so far.

Joe has a very fair point its just a small part of a larger interview and she has been getting shit. I guess I just want to hear how much these creators love what they are working and how important it is to them with like specifics. Make it seem like its a labor of love not just a stepping stone. At least play the game and lie to me lol.

I totally get that. And I think I mostly agree. But there are always exceptions, like Tony Gilroy, for example. I think most of us love Andor. But if we just listed to Tony talk about Star Wars without watching his work on Star Wars we'd probably all be super worried. He's been vocal about not liking SW and he got the job on Andor by literally saying "you shouldn't make this show."
To me, it's not just about loving the ip, it's about loving the work, regardless of the format/genre. And it seems like she has that love of work in spades. She has a very specific pov and a unique voice. And she sees room for that pov in Star Wars. That's interesting and exciting to me.
Certainly doesn't mean she'll pull it off, of course. But it's enough to get some benefit of the doubt as far as I'm concerned.
We'll just have to wait and see what this thing is. I do think it's really interesting that Lindelof left the project. That, to me, is a bigger red flag than an Instagram video.
