You guys weren't kidding about the street gang chase in episode 3. It looked TERRIBLE.
I liked the overall episode more than most but yeah that scene looked so bad. I don't really understand how that happens. It's fine, not a deal breaker. But it was weird.
It honestly looked like a video game cutscene with weird physics and a bad framerate. Usually, I'm very impressed with the visuals in these shows, but goodness. Did they run out of time?

No idea. Maybe it really does come down to a frame rate issue? Someone with more knowledge will have to chime in there. To me, what I imagined in my head, was a director who wanted to do the whole thing practically with no VFX enhancements and as a result had to shoot the scene at 3/4 speed and then speed up the action in post. That sounds ludacris but that's where my head went. Can't be right.
I will say -- at the risk of doing the thing I hate -- that I think the VFX on these shows tends toward underwhelming. It's definitely getting better and better as it goes on. The Volume keeps improving. But if even someone like me, who isn't always impressed with the visuals, is baffled by how bad something looks, well that's really saying something.

Framerate ain't gonna fix the fact they move like they're cheap amusement park rides on tracks.
Most of the issues I've had with the effects work this season seem more based in poor decision-based execution (e.g. the speeder chase, shot compositions/cinematography, etc.) versus the graphics themselves being bad. The poor Luke face effects in Mando are due SOLELY to a decision. Look at the making of doc and tell me the WORK IN PROGRESS deepfake work on Luke they ditched doesn't look vastly better than what they ended up with. Other than a small handful of glaring missteps, the vast majority of effects work in Mando and Boba has been solid.

I've had to watch this a few times now and it really feels like this was supposed to be a twenty minute interlude in a Boba episode. They started watching the season and realized they needed to draw interest back in... especially the light hearted moments to contrast how dry and humourless the boba Fett stuff has been
I really enjoyed the episode, but the tone was significantly more light hearted than anything previously in the mandolorian. I think the entire thing with the ship building was extended, the public transport stuff. The jawas seemed odd, and even BD (for as awesome as he was) seemed very tacked on.

Grogu makes the choice. Mando. Luke delivers him back to tatooine just as it’s all kicking off there and wipes all the pikes out. If I had to guess It is the job of a Jedi to bring peace and justice to the galaxy
It gives the assholes the super Luke they complained about not getting in the sequels and so ticks that box. But also let’s us know Grogu doesn't die at Luke’s academy.
This is spitballing but I think I’m on the right track.

Cobb Vant Mando R2D2 Luke training Grugo and talking about Yoda How good was the deep fake. Add in some Ashoka “Friend of the family” Then Cade Bane at the end The realisation that Mando and Grogu are headed to season 3 together makes me so happy Unbelievable Episode !!
I can’t stop smiling. Fan service X 100 but who cares.
This show is underrated

Some odd things, like the choice, and Ahsoka not wanting The Mandalorian to visit Grogu. But overall a great episode. Cad Bane! Olyphant! Loved that.
I felt the choice was odd too at first. But Luke’s been forced to make such choices since we’ve known him. So it’s true to character for him but also just makes sense. There’s no point in teaching the child who already seems completely distracted, if he doesn’t want to be taught and his mind is still off with mando. I’m thinking we’re gonna see him speak sooner than we thought.
Fuck me there was so much to love in that episode. The temple flashback was amazing. Sleuths are already trying to figure out who the Jedi are and whose saber it is we see in shot
But so much in there. Just brilliant.

Yes. This feels like the third season of The Mandalorian now. Much better than what it started as. Hopefully a great last episode, perhaps something in the vein of what Dime posted.
