Well that's true. Iv listened to extensive interviews with kasdan on the topic and particularly on Hans death and the reasons it would have made far more sense in Jedi. He makes a super compelling argument for it. Sad it never happened in that one. His main argument was ththat victory would have been more worthwhile had there been a cost and stakes involved via Hans death and Lucas just wouldn't have it. We all know that but he really gets into it in an amazing podcast live interview with him but I can't find it on script notes.

Was that not the hobbit? He left when it turned into three films?
Don't remember his name being attached to Star Wars. Real shame he won't do one I guess
I'd like to see him do one. I think it would be interesting to see his concept of Star Wars. Maybe throw in a lens flare? Haven't seen that yet in a Star Wars movie.

The guy that reported that, Anthony breznican from EW didn't just postulate that. He was told to let that out there by licasfilm.
I don't think Obi Wan will be in it with regards Rey but it makes total sense he'd be communicating with Luke all the years since Jedi and we'll either hear him or see him in force ghost form.
But I'm taking it that that means there is an Obi Wan film on the way we're just being indirectly told it won't be for ages.
So that raises the question. What is the standalone they're working on already for after theH Han movie?
I expect we'll get that announcement at celebration in April.

Just read something in which Breznican said he thinks the significant role Obi Wan will have in the upcoming films is directly connected to Rey's parentage. he was vague but I always liked that theory.

It does make sense in that we hear Obi Wan speak to her in the vision.
Also rhymes in Obi Wan training Luke and giving Luke his fathers lightsaber now we have Kenobis granddaughter giving him that same lightsaber and now Luke has to train her.
Star Wars does like things rhyming and going in cycles.

Yep. Good point. Matches up well with how the star wars universe is written.

It does have wonderful symmetry. I didn't even think about how torn Luke would be too. Rey Kenobi has a good ring to it.
Also it would be cool to see the Kenobi family get some play at being the hero after Obi Wan mowed down Vader, and basically sacrificed the rest of his life to watch over Luke on a god awful desert planet.
Yeah, she's absolutely a Kenobi. And that's why they're waiting until 7-9 are complete to make that film/those films. That movie/those movies will probably fill in the gaps on his life and Rey's parentage. Just like I said in the other thread. 2% chance this isn't the case.
It's cool, I guess. But I'm bummed that we know already. Would have been a fun surprise, even with the knowledge of various theories. Whatever.
