Went to see Star Wars: A New Hope Live yesterday with the Oregon Symphony with the fam. Lots of people dressed up both in Star Wars garb and just plain dressed up. Also a lot of people wearing ironic SW shirts and a bunch more just wearing whatever. It was a motley group of people to be sure.

Our seats weren't great - it was the first time I'd been to this place so I had no idea what seating was like - so the top 1/3 of the screen was cut off. Not a huge deal though. The version of the movie they used was the SE so there was that terrible CG shoved into the scenes. It looked amazing though on the big screen, so much better than most versions I've seen.

Back to the seats: If we had been there to see a regular symphony show our seats would have been fine but with the addition of the screen the large balcony overhang was a problem. Again, not a big problem. There were three rows of seats in front of us that no one was using (we were in the handicapped area) and my son said he didn't want to move up so we just stayed there.

This was the first in a series of shows from the symphony: up next is Star Trek Beyond, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Of the three I want to see Nightmare but that one sold out almost immediately.

Nice, I went to that as well. Was pretty fun. The Schnitz is always awesome, been going there since grade school.

You live in the SW Washington Boonies, yeah? I kid, I kid.

I was sitting center Orchestra, about 12 rows back. Perk of growing up here with long-time arts patron friends/family, lots of season ticket holders to hit up. Got me 2nd row when PJ played the Schnitz in 2006.

No, they're the boonies. They don't call it Vantucky for nothing.

Was the guy with the incredibly bright Mace Windu light saber anywhere near you? That thing was crazy.
