The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I’m not 100% on their thread / lore but The whole mando thing seems to be done and dealt with in the siege of Mandalore, which is coming in this new CW season it seems.
I don’t see how they have a place or worthwhile story to tell post ROTJ. Why weren’t they called on and employed either by the empire or rebellion in that last days leading up to battle of endor?
If this wasn’t msw reporting this rumour I’d call it click bait but even jason from msw is saying it sounds a little too out there and unlikely.
There's a lot of bad blood history with the Mandolorians and both The Empire and The Jedi. Not everyone has to take sides. I think it would be easy to explain and fun to further explore your very question about why they weren't involved.
I'm all for Filoni directing. But it seems weird that Favreau wouldn't be directing the premiere. I think that report makes more sense but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Streamlined to only 8 episodes! That’s the part I’m not buying. Unless this was agreed ages ago. Disney will want to make this new streaming platform a serious contender. 8 episodes won’t do that. Unless there is follow up series of there is one or they have other series in the pipes. But it’s easier to grow an audience with one story over several series than confuse the audience with mulitiple series. Anyone remember ‘where’s Rey?’ In the whole rogue one thing from the gen pop?

I would think streamlining to 8 episodes is a good thing. Less chance you get a filler episode.
