Here’s the full cast. The really really evil bad guy from Breaking Bad has also been cast.
'Star Wars': Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers Join 'The Mandalorian'
Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast of The Mandalorian, the live-action Star Wars series being made for Disney’s streaming service Disney+.
Veteran Rocky actor Carl Weathers, Supernatural actress Emily Swallow and Omid Abtahi of American Gods are also in the cast, it was announced Wednesday.
The announcement also confirmed the previously reported castings of Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte and Werner Herzog.
The Mandalorian is currently in production.
Jon Favreau wrote the series and is executive producing along with Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Dave Filoni. Filoni will also direct episodes, as will Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow.
Character details are stuffed deep in the Sarlacc pit, but the company’s synopsis is thus: "After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the series is set about five years after events in Return of the Jedi in a region called the Outer Rim, where people both don’t know and don’t care that the Empire has fallen.
The Mandalorian is one of two live-action Star Wars series due to bow on Disney+. Diego Luna is toplining the second series, which will take place before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

I don’t have to read my posts. You do.

Nothing like a Star Wars fan to split hairs
From the official announcement. From StarWars.com
The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order
When is the show set? Favreau said on Instagram that the show would be set “after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.”
More specifically, it will be set three years after the end of Return on the Jedi. [Note: Previous reports indicated that it was to be set seven years afterward, but that has been corrected. It is instead seven years after the Battle of Yavin from A New Hope.] The 30-year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens is proving to be rich grounds for adaptations. New animated Disney series Star Wars: Resistance also takes place in this gap, though closer to the events of The Force Awakens.

Classic Star Wars bounty hunters will appear in Star Wars: The Mandalorian!!!

Making Star Wars . Net sources have some interesting information about filming recently conducted for Star Wars: The Mandalorian. As time as gone on it seems more and more likely that The Droid Gotra will have a presence in Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Gotra means “clan” in Sanskrit. The droid clan has been mentioned in everything from the Tarkin novel to the Dr. Aphra comics and more. What is interesting is that IG-88 is apparently affiliated with the group and we have seen evidence the droid appears in the series with other droids that have a bone to pick with their enemies.
IG-88 has recently been seen on set, filming his close ups, and being the star that he is on the set of The Mandalorian. The old time bounty hunter isn’t just standing around either, we’ve had credible reports about blasters being fired and he’s riding speeder bikes and attacking enemies.
I was concerned that perhaps it was just an IG Assassin Droid like we saw in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. But the droid is being referred to as IG-88 and appears to have the same bandolier. It does appear that Bossk might be in the series as well but we can’t confirm the Trandoshan is actually Bossk himself, but it does appear to the case. So apparently IG-88 and Bossk are very likely to appear in Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
How cool is that a droid we saw back in 1980 that could barely move is going to have action sequences and a larger purpose in the Star Wars story in 2019? It has been said that Jon Favreau started this story when he was a really young and how could anyone leave two of the best Star Wars action figures ever out of that tale? It does seem to make sense.
The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ in 2019. Disney+ will also premiere the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Sometime in the next year production on a Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series will go into production for the streaming service.Jaysis
I've heard a lot of rumblings that this is gonna have a ton of character cross-over/appearances. People are speculating older characters like the ones mentioned above as well as possible comics and book-only characters, too. I try not to get too wrapped up in that kind of speculation but there's a lot of it and I think it could be really fucking cool.
