They have to be though, right? I mean with the Rebels references in Rogue One and Solo. I don't know if they sit around a table and discuss it, but I'm certain that Lucasfilm has people that check and veto things that violate canon ... or at least require an explanation be given.

The way I see it, there's including easter eggs for fans, and then there's letting the plot of a cartoon with a substantially smaller viewer base than the live-action films stand in the way of their new ideas for where to take the story. I really believe that the moment it comes to that point, they'll just change what's canon again. And I have a feeling this will be tested in the next couple of movies. Quote this post when it happens

I wouldn't call Maul an Easter egg. And casual fans probably all thought, "wait that guy died". But he was alive and well in both animated series. I think that is some pretty serious collaboration within the Canon
