The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I’m not sure you will like what I have to say. But I did think it was a beautifully made movie, and as a person who has enjoyed every Star Wars movie, I had a good time tonight as well. Too bad about the writing though.

its a vastly improved different film on the second viewing..i know that sounds unbelievable but tis true...read back a few pages to my initial reaction,
Obviously Mark Hamill is amazing, and a terribly underrated actor. I wanted a different story for Luke, at least to leave the planet. But I accept it for what it was.
There is too much to go over with the rest. But I feel like I could pick it apart scene after scene. With the New Order never catching up to the rebels, Snoke just ending with no story, so many of the scenes being holograms, Poe’s failed plan and mutiny, Rey being set up to be some poor girl with a big heart and no backstory, Leia with Jedi powers in space, so many silly comedy moments, that it felt a lot like the prequels, and much more.

From bewilderment to love. Third time was the charm. The magic of Star Wars comes through and takes its hold. Happy to admit I was wrong. This film is great and earns its place among our beloved Star Wars. It’s magical moments are among Star Wars best ever and they outshine the flaws and make it worthy. Thanks in no small part to the secret sauce of the music and the intangible elements that make Star Wars. Hope it opens up to us all like it did for me tonight.
Can’t wait to hear all our many thoughts and talks on it
The flaws were more noticeable this time around, but the strengths far outweigh any minor gripes. The stuff I didn't care for, first...
Leia being blasted out into space, surviving, and floating back to the ship was stupid. Perhaps it felt more out of place because although we've seen her Force-sense things in the movies, we've never really seen her do something so obviously 'magical'. But it just felt ridiculous.
I wasn't overly keen on the Finn/Rose story either. They're both fantastic in the role but it just left me a bit cold.
Everything else, I LOVED. I'll just list the super awesome badass moments for simplicity:
1. Luke taking the lightsaber from Rey, only to casually toss it over his shoulder. Giving no fucks 2. Rey chopping down the massive rock which then wiped out those funky caretaker creatures' stuff! 3. Kylo Ren in every scene. Dude is the MVP of the series for me so far. His conflict, his rage... 4. ...his MURDER of Snoke, who was made out to be the big bad villain of this saga but totally got his ass handed to him with one blast of the lightsaber. 5. That battle in Snoke's HQ with Kylo and Rey teaming up like the badass mofo's they are. What a team they would make! 6. R2D2 laying the guilt trip on Luke by playing the old message of Leia from ANH. 7. Finn rising back up on that platform with his casual 'Hey' to Phasma before knocking her ass down. 8. Finding out Rey's parents were just randomers who sold her like a cheap whore for booze. Rey isn't special because of her lineage, she's special just because she is. She's Rey and she's awesome and I love her dearly. 9. YODA!!!! 10. ASTRAL PROJECTION!!! I was laughing the first time I watched because Luke was suddenly and immortal God-type man but then it turns out he's still chilling out on the island and it became even more awesome. He died just like Yoda did, at peace and on his own terms. Poetic.
Anyways, I don't know where it ranks but it's up there for sure. Perhaps a bit long and one of the stories didn't fully click with me, but other than that it was a wonderful experience. So, will Rey become a grey jedi? She defeats Kylo and the First Order and brings balance because she can harness the light and dark side? Who the hell knows, but I can't wait to find out.
