dude, i kinda get that this might be a joke to a lot of you, but when this happens i will be devastated for a long time. Im not sure i will be able to listen to Pearl Jam knowing the band is not there anymore.
It took me a long time to listen to Cornell or Lanegan.

PJ stopping touring doesn't necessarily equate to the band being done, or someone in the band having died -- they could just retire from the road and focus on putting out new music, which (in theory) could be a great ride off into the sunset for them.
It will certainly mark the end of an era when they stop touring, and there will be some sadness to that, but I've only ever been an opportunistic PJ show attendee (i.e. never traveling further than the nearest show, never doing multiples back to back, etc.), so I doubt it will affect me the way it will affect some others -- though PJ tours these days are so short and infrequent (and expensive) that I have to imagine that even the most committed traveling fans have already made some peace with the loss of that "PJ touring life" mindset.

cant talk for others, but my experience with PJ, once i saw them live, was always to expect a live show from them. At this point if the band stops touring, it will be devastating for me. If they broke up completely, also will be a very big change for me, they have always been around for the most part of my life.
Like i say this is my experience with them, im sure other will have a different one.

I threw away all my fan club mailers, 10C trinkets, sold my CDs (including an original Hallucinogenic Recipe!) just a few weeks ago. I've just got vinyl, a few posters (only one on display, and a complete collection of No Code polaroids. I don't miss the other stuff at all.

You're also a cranky old man!
No way man, I felt so light and free that I could let old stuff go to make more room for my kids' growing collection of bikes, scooters, inner tubes, helmets, etc. Felt like an arrival of sorts.
