The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Watching all these videos, I can't help but be reminded of The Who bringing in Zak Starkey and sounding 20 years younger all over again
There's no way in hell Ed doesn't realize it too...nothing is happening with Matt (unless he himself decides he's had enough, which may end the band), but it's hard to watch the videos from the 2 nights in Oakland and not see it
Guys, I am not a moderator! I swear to God! Why does everyone think I'm a moderator?

I'm with you, dude. Sure there is some excitement from everyone, but it is more because "ok whew, this is working for tonight so we can at least give the people a concert!". Any newness excitement would wear off quickly and people would be either bitching about the mistakes or that the fill-in drummers only know a certain number of songs so the setlists are becoming repetitive.
Everyone please calm down.

yeah the band is more interesting without matt.. when matt's drumming it's like he's driving a site-seeing tour bus through all the songs' tombstones and the rest of the band is just kinda like the announcers on the bus, and they're showing you where the bathrooms are and stuff

i've read reviews from people who attended these shows and weren't thrilled with the drummer change, but it is what it is. i thought stuverud sounded great on wma w/ klinghoffer and I could see how a change could sound interesting. but what are we talking about here, replacing matt cameron b/c stone is smiling and banging his head? matt cameron has been the only consistent drummer in the band that has had 5(?) drummers. he contributes to writing on every album. most importantly, eddie vedder loves him. enjoying the uniqueness is cool, but we're getting flat-earthish in here w/ conspiracy theories lol
likes rhythmic things that butt up against each other

Yes let's settle down, internet. Been watching some of these Oakland videos:
Josh K - what a good guy, good musician and I'm so glad he's on this tour. A truly versatile musician who has a broad musical vocabulary and truly understands this band. Same goes for the Earthling stuff. Very happy he's landed in a good spot after the rhcp thing, seems like a guy who deserves it. On his drumming - come on people, he would be the first to tell you that he isn't qualified to sniff Matt Cameron's jocks in this category. It just speaks to his musical versatility and PJ knowledge (as previously stated) that he can step in and do this. Major kudos to him on that. Get well very soon, Matt.
Rich Stuverud - Wow, I mean, wow. I was getting emotional watching these videos. Guy is truly a powerhouse and it just kinda sucks that he's been stuck on the margins of "grunge" all these years. Why hasn't someone else picked him up? Why isn't he a crazy in demand session or tour drummer? I don't get it. It's clear he's got the goods and the passion. You can really see him having many moments. Maybe it's Nothingman and you can see his face and how he's part of the genesis of that song. Or Quick Escape or Alive or Baba O'Riley and you know he's put in the 100,000 hours and dreamt of this. It's like he barely even had to prepare, like the music just lived inside of him and he was only just waiting to the do this. I know little of him but man you really feel for and appreciate what this must mean. I hope he can look back and it makes his career rock all worth it. And yes, sure, he creates another dimension and kinetic energy that really adds something to PJ. I really enjoyed watching Jeff and the other guys playing with him. Extremely special.
Matt Cameron is sort of like the Roger Federer of rock drumming to me. He's effortless, efficient, smooth, no movement wasted, literally no weaknesses. Like a fantasy Voltron machine made drummer. He doesn't do the primal Keith Moon style drumming thing. He just makes it all look so easy. Rich and Josh could have a heart attack up there if they do this for too many more shows. Onwards and upwards.
On Kai and the other Josh - also got emotional watching these. What a great community we've all created. It's special, appreciate it guys it won't last forever.
