It only bothers me in that it implies people from Maryland are inferior to people from Montana, when they are equally shitty.

You've made a powerless enemy today.

i had nothing but kind, warm and gracious experiences and encounters with every Montanan i spoke with in Missoula. i'd move there and proudly call myself one of them any day. much better than a lot of high nose, pretentious shit you deal with around here.

Sorry, the correct answer is "Drop the leash, drop the leash, get out of my fucking face".

At least with Leash you know what the hell he's singing about, and the melody and guitars are cool, and if you're 15 years old and blasting the song at high volume you can think: yeah grown-ups, get out of my face, this is bullshit. I don't think any human has ever had an emotional connection with the words "like pilate I have a dog," and no, being happy to finally hear a rarely played song does not count as an emotional connection.

If you want someone to explain the line to you, just ask. Cut the foreplay and just ask.

i find the contemplative Pilate lyric much more interesting and appealing than the bro-y surface-level fist pump chorus in Leash

i brought a satriani-style guitar-playing non-pearl jam fan friend to a PJ show in 2000 and they played pilate and it was so incredibly embarassing

it’s a fine song to f*nger oneself to alone but has no place in the live catalogue

Especially when the internet becomes reality and you are sitting across from some wonderful people enjoying chatter over a beverage.
