Come to think of it, I actually export as WAV too. But wease said he wanted an MP3, so I said that.

I didn't realize I could export as WAV, MP3 was what was available. I didn't see any option to change it. I guess I'll look later and see if that's an option.

Yup. And the degradation of the re-encode is generally minimal anyway.

At least it is in Audition. I haven't used Audacity in awhile.

If you've already downloaded in mp3 then "mp3DirectCut" will split tracks without re-encoding.

I do agree the best way is to obtain the highest quality files in the first place, but in answer to the OP this would be one way to go.
