Hey folks. He's done this a couple times and im looking for a specific version. Not the recent one with Brandie Carlile.
He sat in with the band of gypsies, i think, maybe in the early 00's? Incredible version. I had the audio of it for a number of years but clearly i have lost it.
Anyone familiar with it? I couldnt find anything in my brief search.
The members of Pearl Jam stay busy making music when they're not busy ... Mike appeared as part of a Jimi Hendrix tribute at Street Scene in San Diego on ... Gun" along with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox from the original Band of Gypsys.

I went to that shit show "Street Scene" festival that year just to see this Hendrix set. It was really cool to see Miles & Cox, and easily the wildest thing I've ever seen/heard Mike play. Well, actually tied with the Reach Down solo from Santa Barbara 2003. It's pretty long & crazy. He also "sang" lead "vocals" on it. I know I have the audience recording on a McCready compilation disc I made years ago. Pretty sure I met the taper at the show & got him to send me the recording, but it was definitely torrented for the public right after the show too. I will try to upload it when I get home tomorrow. Glad this performance is remembered by others.

Random side note: I saw the 2008 Experience Hendrix tour in Portland. Mike showed up at that & predictably tore shit up. Don't think they did Machine Gun at that show though. That show ended up being Mitch Mitchell's last, he died in his Portland hotel room a couple days later. I feel lucky to have seen both of Jimi's drummers live, they were both great. Billy Cox was an absolute beast on bass too.
