Hi there

After some time getting shows here and there, and as I have many of them, I want to organize them a little, starting with audio

I already discover the Audio Archive collection, and found md5 check files for every volume / show...

So, my first step is check my shows against those md5 and see if they match or not

Meanwhile, I have some questions to make :D

1) The Audio Archives covers the pre-2000 shows, as they started to make the Official Bootlegs from 2000 onwards. I don't know if more old shows have surfaced, besides the Archives. So, are those shows available? Which shows are?

2) Are md5 files available to check the Official Bootlegs? I have also many of them, but completely unsorted and unchecked if they are correct or not.

3) Besides the Archives sets and the Official Bootleg downloads, which other sets / shows are available?. Is there any listing or something similar. I've heard about Vault releases, Audience recording of shows not included in the Official Downloads.

Basically, I want to make my collection the most complete possible :D

Thanks in advance

#3 is tricky to answer. I organized post AA by year. As far as I know, every show except the Made In America Festival 2012 has a recording.

MD5 checking might turn into a nightmare. 2000 and 2003 would be troublesome since they are ripped. My ripped MD5s wouldn't match someone else's ripped files even though both of our files could be perfect.
Newer official releases differ by origin - 10C files include no tags, Live Download files do include tags. I think this would cause the MD5s to differ too.

The biggest issue currently is 24 bit transcodes which pollute the 16 bit pool. Make sure you have actual 16 bit FLAC files

Hi

Thanks for the answers, it seems I have some work to do :)

I've checked the link for the remastered soundboard series on the blog, but all of them are MP3 files. Is there some link to get them in FLAC?

Are the Official Vault shows free to trade?

About the Official Bootlegs 2000 and 2003: It seems the best option is to get a "verified collection" from somebody.

The rest Official Bootlegs are downloads, right?

It could be great to get all the Official Bootlegs from a verified and trusted source. I don't know if there is an option like that for download or trade, and how much space it will take

Also, i'll search the forum, as I've seen some interesting collections, like the B-Sides and Rarities on 6 or 7 CD's

Typically, if a show is not currently available for sale (in any form), it is considered free to trade.

That was just for my reference, but there's a bunch of stuff out there not circulating that well. I later tracked down a lot of this stuff (though not all). I also got a Nirvana drive at the same time, and I noticed just how meticulous Nirvana collectors are; they had every source for every show, even if it sounded like shit. The PJ drive had all the SV series stuff rather than the individual sources; not that there's really anything wrong with that, but in some cases I would have rather had individual sources.

A bunch more stuff has surfaced since I made this note, FYI.

Hi

Matt, thanks for the list, it will help me in my search

About the Nirvana fans, they're really well organized and, as you say, catalog their material really well.

There is a trend of getting into circulation as much recordings as possible, including multiple recordings of the same show, vinyl rips, and everything... I've noticed that in some of the fan trader pages and download sites... I like a that and I hope that, with time, everything will be perfectly cataloged and with no recordings left in those vaults :D
