You're on this list because you're a source maintainer at db.
The team at db has been maintaining the site for 19 years. It's been a long trip for sure and we're dedicated to keeping the site running (more on that below).
Last month I secured the database passwords for the etree sites and Dave "Phrog" Korey accused me of sabotaging bt.etree.org then promptly removed the DNS for db.etree.org. But not before stealing a copy of the db.etree database and the code.
We at db.etree had long expected such a move from the server team. I consider them juvenile and not fit to lead the once great etree banner. They just shoot up every few years or so like cicadas. So being ready for this move I purchased etreedb.org in 2008, 10 years ago. I have moved the old db.etree.org website to db.etreedb.org hereafter referred to as etreedb.
This email finds us with a deliberate act of TREASON in that the stolen copy of db, code and database, has been put up on a commercial server and modified to appear to still be the same website you and I and all the volunteers at etreedb have created and maintained. This is going to cause a problem.
etreedb was put up weeks before the treasonous bastards put up their stolen copy. Hense we went on working as before collecting sources and giving the shnid's. The stolen copy ETREE.ORG has put up can collect sources too. We see through source submissions the database was stolen on 2018-09-11. Of the few sources we have looked at on the stolen ETREE.ORG copy we see nobody is checking and approving the sources and that's a very good thing. I encourage all of you who still maintain an artist at etreedb to continue to do so at the new url https://db.etreedb.org affectionately abbreviated DB.DB.
The etreedb team will continue to run the site as you've always experienced it. Our dedication is not limited and we're here because we still love the music.
The future of etreedb has been planned and executed for the past four years. The techie among you will find the documentation at the fully operational https://api.etreedb.org to be among the best in API documentation today. The site is built with the open source tools I've helped develop in some of the top teams in PHP (zfcampus & Doctrine). The next step is to build a UI to replace the existing db.etreedb.org and this complete rewrite of the website and database will carry etreedb into another 20+ years as a music lovers tool. If you'd like access to the API I will accommodate you.
etreedb is only the resource it is because of you volunteers. I thank you from my empty heart because my headphones are not on.
