I could care less if the band moves around and jumps around a lot. I'd rather see them play a tight, well rehearsed set. I mean, the last time I saw them in Philly, they were having a blast drinking wine, jumping around the stage and riling up the audience, but the performance fucking sucked. This is all too apparent when you listen to the boots. It might have been fun at the time, but it's a memory not worth reliving in my opinion.

I'm working on a Binaural/Riot Act live compilation cut entirely from the 2003 leg 1 April shows through State College.

I've been listening through some of these shows, and man, they're the tits. Just about all of them are primo PJ and really put 2013-14 PJ to shame.

Any suggestions on song performances from these two albums in that run?

Oh yeah, and I have some ideas for artwork, but I suck at actually working with images. Anyone feel like volunteering to help with the artwork? I want to do it right with this one.

Notes: This mix, which is based on a mix I made for traveling back in 2003, is an attempt at highlighting both how amazing the 2003 tour was but also how great some of the less-talked about shows are. Indeed, with 24 shows represented, there's a lot to choose from. I never had the opportunity (or the desire) to listen to every show from this tour, but I've listened to at least 50 and these performances are the best of the best. You might be able to think of another version as good as one here, but you won't find one that is better for pretty much any of these songs. Enjoy. I spent a lot of time making this and I love the final product. Japan needed its own disc because those shows were so different from the rest of the tour. About 5 of these songs were incorporated into the original mix but they stood out like a sore thumb, so I decided to give the Japan shows their own disc. Enjoy!

This is still my favorite tour to listen to. I know most people like 00 a lot better, and I love that one too, but this one really does it for me.

Magic moment...like i said, pouring down rain, full on lightning storm overhead...just as ed finishes the 'oh dear dad can you see me now..' a bolt of lightning tore across the sky...crowd went nuts, ed 'hi dad'..
Most memorable moment i've ever had at a Pj show

Was the 2007 tour more like 2006 or 2008, Matt? I don't think I've ever heard any of those Euro shows other than an audience boot or two, though I remember being pretty underwhelmed.

In any event, with hindsight...2006 was the end of Pearl Jam being great live, '07 - Aug '09 was the beginning of their waning period, Sept '09 - 2012 was the next stage, and now we're in a different stage. Still, minus USA '95 and 1996 (which both still had great days/moments!), Pearl Jam was as good as anybody live from 1992 - 2006, 15 years in which you can argue which album or era or drummer is the best but not that they weren't consistently at the top of their game almost every night, month, and year.

One of my least favorite PJ songs. It is what is is. When you make a mix you put on what you like. I don't like "Cropduster".
