One thing I have noticed quite a bit of is people having the setlist up on their phone during the show and then checking it before every song, like they are judging a ladies figure skating routine.

A leak or what's been played so far?

Leaks. Happend at 3 of my five

On concert day, I don't look for leaks or soundchecks.

That would drive me crazy.

It was bad enough being next to the guy who loudly called every song in advance based on the guitar changes when I saw them last.

Who does that kind of shit? How does that make your concert experience more fun?

Stat trackers, keeping score of what you need to "complete" an album, etc. - I can't understand what attracts anyone to that garbage.

i always hate it when sting , cheap trick, and a pack of blonde women are in front of me at a pearl jam concert

and the big guy from everybody loves raymond

so, yeah let's add that to the list

I think i get what you are saying, but I actually enjoy both stat tracker and livefootsteps. I think its what you do with the information from those tools that matters. For example if you let how often a song is played determine your enjoyment of a particular performance (especially one you attending at that very moment), then yeah... you need to put those away and ask yourself what are you really doing at the show. If you use them like a journal, I see that as quite different. and yes, they will let you know if you've completed album or whether your show has more rarities than someone else's did, but they can also help you remember some of the amazing shows you've seen in the past and appreciate the depth of PJs catalog and that they could literally playing anything on any night.

Yes, I suppose I can see the value of them in letting you analyse the shows you've seen after the fact.

It's more the stamp collector/trainspotter aspect of it that offends my sensibilities. The idea of someone going into a show with the hope of ticking songs off their stat tracker is horrendous.

I like to see how many times I can get The Real Me

This is a fantastic list.

That said I am guilty of 1a sometimes and if that bothers you, go f*ck yourself.

I am also guilty of PART of 2a, in that I often have to pee a lot. I have a small bladder. Don't like it? Go f*ck yourself. (I always go for the aisle seat on the plane because of this and no, it's not because I'm pounding beers)

I don't mind people getting out once or twice to pee or poo or for food or drink.

I love PJ stats, but my enjoyment of stats has no bearing on the people around me. I've always tracked hearing songs that I've never heard before. These trackers help me keep track of that much more easily.

Can we all agree that those assholes that bring their preschool aged young kids to the show because the kids "love Pearl jams whole catalog" and not because "daddy wants a tambourine" deserve a nice firm cock punching?

These people should be reported to the appropriate child services department.

This almost seems like it could be its own thread- crazy fans at shows-

I met a lady at a PJ show who had bought 5 different tickets for her one self for the same show so she could decide which seat was the best. She had a pre-set outfit and then she changed into her main show outfit while the openers were playing- different shoes and all. She had a really big bag for all of her stuff. In addition, she had printed out the lyrics to every PJ song and put them in a binder, which she pulled out along with a pen light and told me how she liked to read along while Ed was singing so that she would know when he'd sing something "wrong".

Someone opened a thread about this on the pit short after this post, Kat shut the shit down quick. Of course that person posted a screen grab of someone with their kid holding a "tambourine please" sign, so that was a bit too far...

I'd much rather get a drumstick from Matt than a tambourine.
