It sounded kinda like Ed said "this song was written by our former drummer... Dave Ablerseesis?" as he looked back at Jeff... I think...
Oh, and after watching the video, I take it all back. It was absolutely great having Angel played in Telluride!
I love that song so damn much that I had an irrational emotional response in real time
I'm jealous. When I saw "Angel" come up on livefootsteps, I went and checked Dimi's twitter and the pit to verify that wasn't a typo.

I like the studio version of Angel, but this sounds disgusting to my ears.
It was a surprise for sure, but I thought it sucked too.
Count me in this group as well. Cool that they tried it, but...
I'm going to help you out with a little math.
The only version of that song which you're familiar with was recorded when Ed was approximately 30 years old. Now he's like 51 or something. It's going to sound different.
The unattractive differences have nothing to do with the aging of his pipes, and everything to do with his choice of phrasing. The time between the studio cut and this one is irrelevant.
Well when you put it like that...
Yep, exactly.
The song was written by Dave A.
Dave A., as far as we know, is the only PJ member to have the tattoo.
The version you've grown up listening to was heavily dependent upon Dave A.
Dave A. ain't around no more, so it's going to sound different.

I knew for certain we'd get setting forth, thin air, and some sort of WMA.
Thin Air was so beautiful.
I'm pretty sure I heard you cheering in that video.
I wasn't that close when pearl jam hit the stage
One of these times if I'm up close at a show and I see someone serious about recording a song, I need to go near them and yell "strat this is ruddo" and hope it gets posted to YouTube.
