Its awesome to see live if you are a diehard fan that knows every album and B-side. If you just know the hits from their first five albums, not so much.
Dude, it's still good music and the show is flowing nicely. I'm sure your friend would have enjoyed it.

Well yeah but most people dont want to go to a concert to see three hours of songs they dont know. It is hard to become a fan of a song in the live setting with the distorted sound.
And chud, maybe you did, but did they ever get a show like this one?

What kind of an asshole would listen to like 10% of a band's catalog, go to see them live based on that, and be disappointed they didn't play exclusively that 10%?

This one isn't that out there.
Id say it is, it only has like 8 really recognizable songs so far (Even Flow, Porch, Small Town, Corduroy, Why Go, Once, Betterman, Love and Trust maybe)

I never got around to posting about the NYC shows. I really enjoyed them. I hadn't seen Sting since the Hounds of Winter tour in 96. I love Sting. Anyway, had my family in NYC, and my favorite part of the trip was how nearly everything made me think of the Beastie Boys. God, I wish MCA was still alive!

Not exclusively. The balance at MSG was awesome. At this show PJ is barely touching a lot of their biggest songs.
