Is this considered a "good show" by modern RM standards? Has anyone even ranked the SA shows yet?

I don't know if your post was made in jest or not, trag, however this is the first show of the South American tour released so far.

Would it be in jest because the boots are just now coming out and there's been no time to judge or rank?

They've pulled it down now.

Going by the newsletter, it wasn't meant to have been released until next week.

I was not jesting.

I paid no attention to the SA tour beyond a quick scan of the setlists to see if they played any new songs. I've no idea how the band sounded this time out. I was thinking that maybe someone had ranked the shows (didn't CopperTom attend a number of them? Plus Dimi.), so was curious if this was considered one of the better ones.

Going off of setlist alone, I think I'm only interested in Belo Horizonte and Rio. The rest look blah and/or derivative of these for the most part...

Did anyone get the Santiago show while it was up? I'd be interested to know if at least sounds any good, or if it's shit with Ed's voice turned up and warbling.

Ah, gotcha.

I think fan reports from the shows aren't a very reliable yardstick, sometimes the shows least remarked on are my favourite on recording and vice versa, and great setlists don't always align with great performances.

It'll probably be clearer once the bootlegs have been released, I'm reasonably eager to give them a listen.

I listened to the samples on the Nugs page, sounded OK to me.

From a recording/mixing perspective, I think the bootlegs sound better now than they ever have.

Just listened to the first set of Santiago - one of the strongest starts to a tour in recent memory :nice:

The band really plays with a lot of confidence with a South American crowd cheering them on.

ugh. i listened to whatever they played on Sirius last night. I had to turn it off. Every song turns into a call and response thing for eddie. And I really can't stand the crowd singing to every riff. And eddie. Also that new bridge in Corduory...call and response.

RIP PJ

I caught the Santiago show a bit this morning on Sirius as well. I heard the Mother - Imagine - Black stretch.

I suffered through the first two just out of curiosity, and by then, all of my energy and interest had been completely zapped. God, those two are just awful and boring to hear. I was so uninterested at that point, and the familiar opening chords of Black seemed so forced, that once I heard Eddie start to multi-syllabize and draw out the very basic words of the opening verse, I just had to change it.

It was not a good listening experience to say the least....

The FLAC isn't even available on PearlJam.com. Just VD/MP3. Not everyone wants to go to livedownloads.com to buy the flac etc. Weird that they have done it this way. Not a good sign of things starting out.

EDIT: Now they have changed it from being labeled as MP3 Download to just download with all of the digital options available. Make up your mind TenC. Jeez.
