Ive listened to so many shows from this tour on Sirius XM. I just don't like it. Repetitive sound harsh and cold, everything just in your face but it doesn't sound good to me.

The first 4-5 songs all sound the same, too much early Corduroy and Animal, and it just all sounds like the same song.

Grievance is really good at least. But its the only Binaural one I really like live.

It sounds like the album.

A bunch of people playing high-energy, way too fast, no dynamics, no warmth, just speeding down a highway with no feeling and banging out notes.

Its boring.

And they make all the songs sound like that. Like even Betterman Animal and Corduroy become Insignificance

What are you talking about? The 2000 tour was the last tour before they started playing too fast.

Can you give us an example or two of what you consider to be an excellent bootleg? Which shows?

Ive heard a lot of amazing ones from 2003, 1994, and 1998 though I can't point to an individual show I can only talk about the tour in general, because I don't remember which dates I've heard.

I'm not sure that I'd phrase it quite like this but there is an element of truth to what you're saying, and it's actually part of what I really like about this tour. Songs like "Animal" that are characteristically really gnashing and ferocious take on introverted qualities more in the spirit of the "Binaural" album that I find myself identifying with more than the piss-and-vinegar of earlier performances, which I don't seek out nearly as often. Not to say the songs transform entirely, just that you can feel how the performances evolve with the band's collective headspace.

This tour was the ultimate of the band playing to their current emotions. 2003 was similar as well.

The past 10 years has all been pretty similar with really no change in dynamics or approaches to the songs. They've been happy for 10 years and thats what we get now. Predictable.

Every tour before backspacer had its own identity in a sense.

And Binaural just happens to be my favorite. Really wonderful to watch them actually work through stuff on the stage.

Seriously the polar opposite of how the 2000 tour and Binaural feel to me. Both are fuckin' oozing with feeling, it's just a different feeling. A feeling you are apparently incapable of being empathetic to.

No feeling, just banging out notes.

But aren't you the same guy that wants a dedicated thread for each individual show?

Seriously. And this song in particular, if you actually watch the performance, I don't think there is one time where Mike plays this song without "feeling".

NaiS is one of those songs that makes me really gay for Mike.

NAIS is obviously an exception because of its unique sound (though I dont like the song much) but the 2000 tour just sounds like constant in your face, distant somehow, and cold. i HATE the openings of the shows, which always has Corduroy at song like 3, and then Animal and Grievance and sometimes Breakerfall.

I do like that Betterman has the SIFL tag but it just seems so fast and goes zooming by without making much impact.

Post subject:  Re: Let's Talk About the 2000 Tour

2000 tour was probably the last tour where each show felt like an event and something momentous was taking place. There was a very different and deeply felt and profound atmosphere before and during each show.

The following tours seemed to be the evolution into the party band. No bad thing. Change up is good and prevents it all becoming stale but something special was lost in that transition.
