I like PJ's cover of Know Your Rights more than the original in the context of the '03 tour. Go figure.

This both confuses and irritates me.

Chicago 10-09-00 is on today.

I don't really like this tour as you know, BUT this is chicago so I imagine they get a special show.

Release is always a perfect opener.

I dunno what it is about the 2000 sound that I find so cold

release -> corduroy

Eddie just sounds kinda thin...reedy. The sound is harsh but not in a pleasing way. It makes me think of...electricity? IDK even what that means. Its too...sharp? Unpleasant....IDK.

I also find the setlists kind of predictable on that tour. Feels like Corduroy was in the first three songs every single night or something. Grievance too but Grievance rocks. Best song on Binaural.

Release -> Corduroy -> Grievance.

The guitars also sound kind of out of tune to me

God's Dice blech.

I think the 2000 tour features Matt Cameron at his most robotic

Good Animal.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE SOUND IM PICKING UP ON?! I feel like there's some QUALITY on these 00 shows...sloppy guitar, too distorted too messy...too fast...SOMETHING...I dont know what it is but it makes every song sound the same and be offputting to me and I have no idea what it is.

Its like Id listen to it for one song but not for a whole concert and i find it a cold sound where 2003 to me is warmer and more variety IDK WHAT IT IS

OK this sound DOES suit Red Mosquito though which they are playing now at a great tempo.

One of the biggest flaws of RM live is a lot of time its too slow (I know shocking for this band)

The Red Mosquito on this show has the energy it needs.

Ive never got this one live and I hope I do some time

I hate posting it here, I feel like nobody will ever read it because this is in general a boring thread to check out.

I don't think you're far off with that idea that the 2000 recordings sometimes sound cold - almost a metallic, shrill sound to them at times. But, it seemed to be more a show to show thing, rather than the entire 2000 tour. 2003 probably does have a bit of a warmer sound to it. And, I don't think that's explained just by the song choices.

Yeah exactly. And while its fine for a song to song I find it offputting when listening to an entire show.

The 2000 tour rules. Just listen to Chicago, Saratoga, Pittsburgh, Jones Beach...

Stop being fucktarded.

Yeah, I was going to recommend the Jones Beach 2 as a good example. Its a great setlist and a great recording.

More than other tours I feel like the 2000 tour I feel like Im hearing the same tempo and sound on every song. I think its mostly the guitar sound. So far the one I really liked was Red Mosquito which was amazing. The others I feel like could be good renditions when mixed with other sounds but they all sort of blend together
