I listened to the July 20th 2006, Portland show this morning after the July 2003 shows.
The band sounds really great. Great flow, a few ballads. It's Stone birthday and he gets to sing Don't gimme no lip. Joyful spirit overall. I used to think the 2003 shows had a great energy but this is even better.
San Francisco III and Portland 2006. What a great 1 - 2 punch!
I'll give it a listen after The Gorge (July 22nd and July 23rd).

From those comments I'm inspired to check out Gorge night 1. God Eddie sounds so amazing on Wash. His voice had such a pure beautiful soaring quality. I miss that sound in his voice so much. One of the best vocalists of all time. He's not bad now but his voice is no longer transcendent like it was.

(Though I still think Corduroy never sounds as good as the album ever. I don't like the changes and he never nails the bridge with the melodic changes and I hate the growling. I feel like it's one of the songs that transfers the worst to a live setting but I'm not sure why. Did they EVER do it really well like the album? )

My god I really like Avacado as an album, but if they did a live cut of THAT album? Oh man. These songs come ALIVE live. I've heard such good versions of Severed Hand, World Wide Suicide, and though they haven't got to it in this show yet as I listen, Life Wasted. Come Back also hits better live.

Man I LOVE the tone of the 2006 tour. If you aren't going to get 90s grungy intense Pearl Jam this is by far the best one. Bright, energetic, Eddie soaring and sounding amazing, just pure energy and joy

I agree that the Avocado songs blends really well with the back catalogue. In fact, there is a 2006 tone as there was a 2003 tone, and so on.
Great, great energy from these bootlegs !

I would say that having been to shows in the 90s, early 2000s, 2010s, etc., that the best bootlegs probably come from the '98-'03 range. That was like a peak time to see and hear them live.

I think anything ‘98-‘06 is great and probably their full peak.
That said, if they could get some things out there from the 1996 tour that would be really just about as good. This band was quite spectacular sounding from 1993-1996 as well. The 1991/1992 shows are great but the energy plays much further than the sound itself. They were still a great band but growing at that point in my opinion.

Good point about 1996. I saw them at Randall's Island in NY for the No Code tour. My God, what a show.

I was at night 1 of 2. First real concert. As a result, I have gone to a couple hundred more (including other bands of course).

I’ve seen them on every west coast swing since 2000, and Gorge 1 2006 is probably the high water mark. It ranks third on my overall favorite list to Showbox 2002 & Santa Barbara 2003, but it’s objectively the best show I’ve seen.

Santa Barbara '06 is no slouch either, really enjoy that set.
