I listened to all those 2000 Eur boots on a version of Real Player where you could crank the volume up to 200%. I used 167% and the sound was awesome! This was also the tour where I saw them for the first time. Open air show on a square in the middle of the city of Salzburg, Austria. Unreal experience!
Yeah, the Euro boots sound fucking tight, because they haven't been crushed and loudened for ipods. It's too bad they stopped issuing them this way.
And you really get a good impression how the guitars sounded live at the shows. Not so sure about that for the 2003 shows for instance...

YES. They definitely seemed like they enjoyed themselves, and you got a lot more - as you said - down to business versions. Another thing about this tour was they hadn't yet sped up Corduroy.
I was talking specifically about San Sebastian, but yeah, in general you are right, they seemed a little looser on the European leg, and a lot of the songs were just down to business versions without excessive jams. To be fair though, I really, really like those noisy RVM jams they did on leg 1 of the US tour that year. As discussed in the "lets talk about the 2000 tour" thread, the Sonic Youth influence did the band good.

It's been a long time since I listened to that show, so yesterday I put on MSG I 2003. I'm not the biggest fan of that setlist but you can't argue that they played incredibly tight that day. Definitely a top show for that tour...

Astonishingly good performance of Around the Bend.

geez, this does sound good.
I think it sounds good, too. I think it does suffer from the tics that always infest boots of festival shows and one-offs (Ed introducing band members during songs, call-and-responses, etc.), but I was a big fan of the main set and most of the first encore.

Of the big songs Black has never been one of my personal favorites. I heard the Ed/Boom version from Ed's solo '12 tour (Vegas 2) on Sirius, definitely different but I liked it.

Soldier Field Vault bootleg....this is not a band, this is a machine playing here! So awesome!! As a live band they were truly untouchable in 94 and 95. And YES, this of course sounds way better than the radio broadcast that was in circulation before!

Heard most of Paris '00 on PJ radio while stuck in beltway traffic. It's a pretty solid show.

Same, I enjoyed the encore.
Funny I just bought this on ebay today on a whim because it had the man/ape stamp on it

Uh, I just finished the South American shows from earlier this year. They stop playing Yellow Ledbetter at 3 minutes, before Mike's outro. What's the fucking point? (Seems like it may have been a curfew issue.)
I'm going to go listen to a Phish bootleg, where they never cut off solos (or anything else).
