I got creamed this leg, I think I did worse when I actually tried to have some sort of gameplan.
i think this is the first year ive ever really done well, and i do the same thing every year, so its more luck than anything. but i just make my list and try to stick to it, these have been 2 12 show legs, so before the leg starts i have 12 #1s, 12 #2s and so on. i do switch things up from time to time, like on 2 night stands i will move up songs that werent played the night before, infallible was a #2 for me but it wasnt played night 1 in LA so i moved it up to a #1 for night 2, but it was still luck that they played it.

I was toying around with a tweak to fantasy league, I mean I don't like to change it. this thing has been going on strong forever without any changes. But I just like thinking about new ways.
If you saw my twitter last night, I kind of posted my thoughts, I might not be a good thing to try on Australia in January since there's only 6 shows, but...
I was thinking about something, it might put more proofreading work on my part but it could work.
Mulligan If you pick a song and it doesn't get played, you can have a 2nd try at that song. Trick is, is that you can't play it as a Regular pick higher than what it was played the first time you played it.
So if you played it as a: #1, you could only play it in the #2-#7 spot. #2, you could only play it in the #3-#7 spot. #3, you could only play it in the #4-#7 spot. #4, you could only play it in the #5-#7 spot. #5, you could only play it in the #6-#7 spot. #6, you could only play it in the #7 spot. #7, you could only play it in the #7 spot (for 2pts).
Also if a town has 2 back to back shows. and you play a song and they don't play it you can't use your Mulligan for that song for the 2nd show, because more than likely it would get played.
I was just thinking this because the Cinderella list is seriously getting drained and I don't want to open up songs that haven't been played since 2010, because that is no way a "rarity".

how many songs will be added to the Cindy list once we include stuff that was played in 08 for the last time? if its gonna be a really small and unlikely list then there could always be 2 different point options for the cindys, 55 points for somehting that has been played long enough ago to be considered a true Cinderella, then 2nd list that is only worth like 25 or 30 points made up of songs that have been played more recently but still with a tour or 2 break. you still only pick one Cinderella each night and can repeat it every night until its played if you want but your one Cindy can be from which ever list you want it to be.
I think you need more restrictions. I don't think you should get a mulligan on your #1 misses. Maybe 1 #1 pick mulligan and 2 #2 pick mulligans and so on.
I would prefer a tag pick. So if you play Corduroy a night, you can then play Interstellar Overdrive (Corduroy) as your tag. You would have to plan this out since they only tag about a dozen songs - Betterman, Daughter, Porch, Yellow Led better, Crown of Thorns, Not For You and depending on your perspective Life Wasted and MFC. If you plan poorly, you can't make a pick.
# of songs per show would be a good 5 point bonus per night too.
My least favorite part of the current system is closer. I think a rotation of Set 1 closer, Encore 1 closer and show closer would be more interesting.

# of songs per show is a good idea
not a big fan of set closer/enc 1 closer/show closer...just because I'd say 85% of these shows saw RVM close the reg set and Porch close enc 1 (Porch was probably more like 95%, and RVM was prob more like 75% but still)
I think a set number of one time only mulligans with the rule Rick suggested (a #1 has to be played lower than a #1 the second time around could work)
i.e. Even Flow is your #1, they don't play it...so you put it as your #2 the next night...if the band somehow brain farts and skips it two nights in a row, then you're SOL...maybe 3 mulligans like that for the leg?
lastly, re: Cinderellas: maybe view these like dmbalmanac does with Dave Matthews Band, where they have a list of songs that haven't been played, but it's only things that haven't been played in a 1,000 days or more (unless they've changed it, I haven't been over there recently)...maybe do a 1,000 days or 1,200 days or something for Cinderellas? 2010 doesn't seem that long ago but we would be coming up on 4 years for those shows by the time the band hits Europe next summer
