The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
So, considering that relative to some of the veterans on the board, I'm a newbie and while I have katowice 2000, buenos aires, san diego 09, berlin 10, calgary/toronto 11, philadelphia 09, the 2013 bootlegs are the first proper set of entire bootlegs that I have and I'm more acclimated to eddie f'in up or cracking, what are the best shows from start to finish? And what are some of the better versions of older songs (wash, porch, given to fly, etc.)? Really liked Vancouver, pittsburgh's been Ok, charlottesville's solid, OKC and dallas have both sounded pretty good and so has hartford but Buffalo's obviously a lame show. I should clarify that while I obviously find Eddie's lyric botching distracting, some people seem to take real umbrage to it and I'm just mildly irritated--although like I said, I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of PJ boots, so I'm not as well-versed in the shows. I also think that some people have a lack of perspective... R.E.M. could be a sloppy band sometimes, Stipe forgot lyrics and at the show I saw them at, he screwed up three times, but on The Great Beyond, for instance, he forgot a verse, but they reprised it and the song turned out great. And while they are one of my all-time favorites, Buck's not half the guitarist that McCready is, so they couldn't turn to Mike to bail them out so to speak if someone (cough...cough Ed) was having a rough show. And reading the talk about Australia, bands playing better on their 2nd leg of a tour or as they get further on in the tour, is not a phenomenon exclusive to PJ and some people act as though it is. While Ed clearly needs to cool out on the wine, people should check out the U2 boards. Listening to their bootlegs over the years or their live compilations, many people find it just as unsatisfying. Their setlists are significantly more static, which people bitch about all the time (somewhat justifiably) and they still sometimes screw up the songs they've played 4,000 times. And you guys should read the complaining about Bono's voice LOL.

Just to add to this... I used to collect Radiohead bootlegs as well and boy does Thom Yorke sound really bad on some of them... and this was back when RH was in their prime. The same could be said for Wilco and Yo La Tengo bootlegs that I've listened to. So yea, I think fans have been spoiled by how consistently good Ed sounded for a long time.
As for the 2013 boots, so far my favorites are Charlottesville, San Diego, Philly 1, Hartford and Vancouver.

Ah, thanks for the recommendations. Interesting... Have seen Wilco and Radiohead twice each and they were both amazing. Had no complaints about Tweedy or Yorke's voice, but I caught them at the right time, I suppose. On a somewhat unrelated note, going off of bootlegs and shows we've attended, who are bands more consistent or tighter than PJ? QOTSA have been tight as nails when I've seen them or heard them online and FF and NIN too. Sorry for the stream of consciousness with no grammatical breaks in my first post LOL.
What's the consensus on the best version of RVM from 2013 shows? Charlottesville?
How about Sirens and Nothingman? Portland for Sirens and Brooklyn for Nothingman?
I must say, The End from Charlottesville may be the best live version of that song.
RVM, the best version I have heard in quite some time is Sao Paolo 2013.
Nothingman, I think the best versions came over the 2012 euro tour. It seems to be a pace to quick in 2013 when they play it at the beginning of the shows.
