- Experience highlight: The infamous RM pre-show meet up where Strat wasn’t very friendly.
- Setlist highlight: Corduroy during which I earnestly tried to get Snatch to join me in the call & response but he was like nah.

Snatch also looked back at me and laughed when IMT started. He was a real jerk at this show!

- i'd seen eddie solo twice before but this was special. my first (and still only) time being in america, i'd been through a couple of brutal breakups that year and travelled to california to see the mynabirds and eddie at ohana festival by myself. he came out and played river cross first the first time (this was before gigaton was out) and tagged it with i'm so tired by fugazi (chris cornell's last words to his wife). it was super moving and a powerful moment.

i've watched this probably 100 times. i assumed it was for cornell b/c of the subject matter, but i had no idea about the connection to the last words to his wife.

Elderly Woman at Brooklyn 1 2013 (Fans seemed extra hyped for this one, it was third song after Pendulum/Release and the fans were singing so loud)

Wash at Brooklyn 2 2013 (First song after Pendulum....Eddie sounded great here and I didn't even know the song yet and loved it...)

Present Tense at Brooklyn 2 2013 (First time hearing this one live, and I loved it...somehow i've been lucky to get this one at 4 out of 7 shows!)

All Those Yesterdays Brooklyn 2 2013 (I loved this song at the time, and it was rarely played! This was only the 15th time they played this song live - today it's still only been played 24 times.)

Lightning Bolt at Global Citizen Festival 2015 (No idea why but this one under the open sky with McCready solo'ing was just very powerful. This song in general is much better live than on the album.)

Redemption Song with Beyonce at Global Citizen Festival 2015 (They sounded so good together)

The entire Encore 1 from MSG 2 2016 (You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, All or None, Pendulum, Present Tense, Breath, State of Love and Trust, Porch...just a wonderful set...All or None, Present Tense, and Breath are three of my absolute favorites)

Tremor Christ at Fenway 1 2018

Release at MSG in 2022 (Even with the down-tuning, which he isn't doing this tour anymore, it sounded great)

Any time I get Black or Betterman to be honest

- Experience highlight: We got a tip to call an Uber from the nearby hotel, not from the festival parking lot. At said hotel was a post-show jamily convention and it took forever to get the Uber. We actually left to go to a restaurant but anyway I was SO GLAD we did not stay overnight at the jamily hotel. What a nightmare.
- Setlist highlight: 7 O’Clock.

- Experience highlight: Spending the weekend solo with some of my best friends in SoCal. This was a Covid makeup for 2020 obviously, which at the time was planned as a full family trip with the wife and kids. It was nice to get away without ‘em.
- Setlist highlight: Of The Girl to open the show.

- Experience highlight: Went with a couple buddies that I had a band with in high school. They both live in California now.
- Setlist highlight: Probably have to go with Matt Cameron singing Cold Day In The Sun as a tribute to Taylor Hawkins.

St. Louis, 10/11/2000 -- first show! I was a senior in high school. Left my friend's house after school (skipping last hour study hall), on a tight schedule to get from Central Illinois to St. Louis in time for the show. We got out of his neighborhood and he decided he needed to turn back for a sweatshirt. Knowing we were crunched for time, we begrudgingly obliged, chiding him for the few minutes it took to get back I am sure, and when we got back to his house, we found the tickets to the show laying on the driveway. The show itself was surreal, such an amazing experience seeing the band for the first time after almost 6 years of them being the soundtrack to my growing up. I was thrilled to hear every song they played and disappointed not to hear every song that they didn't. This was the first time I heard the full band "Footsteps," so at the time that was probably the musical highlight. "U" also got either its first or second live airing here. Overall it was a pretty rarity-heavy show for the time.

Champaign, 4/23/2003 -- insane energy, I think the highlight was the band just ripping into "DTE" to start, and just enjoying how much everyone around me was enjoying the show. I went with a friend of mine from work, and my brother and one of his friends. There were a few big hits that I missed in 2000 that I heard for the first time here -- "Corduroy," "Black," "Alive" -- and some album tracks I was really excited to get -- "Deep" was recently back in the setlist after being AWOL since 1995, and I was really happy to get "Habit," "MFC," "Nothingman," etc.

Chicago, 6/18/2003 -- I went to this show with my cousin, who is one of my lifelong PJ buddies. We walked around Chicago all day leading up to the show, and at a few points we got pelted with some pretty torrential rain -- I remember at one point going into the Union Station to stay dry, and we walked in on some sports memorabilia auction going on on the first floor. The whole day is just one of those great, weird, random memories of the kind of thing that I can't imagine ever happening to me again. Highlights -- the "Release" opener was really special, always felt like the quintessential PJ opener, so I was glad to see it for myself. Apart from that I was really happy to see "Cropduster" and "Off He Goes."

St. Louis, 10/5/2004 -- I joined the 10C for the first and only time to get tickets for this show. Went with both of my brothers, who were both still in high school at the time. Short-ish VFC set, but a few songs I was really happy to see -- "Last Exit," "Alone," "Man of the Hour," "All or None." At the time I thought the sit-down first encore was a really cool idea. My brother was a big "SOLAT" fan, so getting that late in the encore was exciting for him, which is the sort of thing that is always exciting for me.

Chicago, 8/23/2009 -- after a five-year hiatus it felt so great to see the band again. Loved getting "Sad" and "Gods' Dice" but honestly I think my favorite part of the show was "The Fixer" -- I'd only heard the song once at that point (the album wasn't out yet) and live it was just a really fun, catchy singalong. I was also really excited to get "Smile" in the second encore.

St. Louis, 5/4/2010 -- my wife bought these tickets as a surprise, and they are the only tickets I've ever had at a PJ show that could be described as good seats (lower bowl on Stone's side, pretty close to the stage). It was the only show I've seen with her, so it was great to have her there, along with usual PJ show companions. "Sometimes" to open was a treat, and hearing "Glorified G" was one of those moments where I really felt a sense of communion with my younger self. But my real highlight was "Pilate" -- this is an incredibly special song to me, one that was a rarity more or less from day one that I didn't think I'd ever get a chance to hear live.

St. Louis - 10/3/2014 -- one of the LB marathon shows, solidly played for 2014, lots of songs I was happy to hear. Got "Pilate" again, plus "Low Light" for the first time, another special Yield song for me -- nice getting both of Jeff's Yield songs in the same set. "Thin Air" during the first encore was another highlight, as were "My Father's Son" and "Swallowed Whole" -- my two favorite LB songs at the time. Overall I remember just having a really great time at this show -- it was the first one I remember attending where I wasn't anticipating what the setlist might be, or what songs I might hear, but just really enjoying rocking out to the band, spending time with my family (went again with my brothers and cousin), and basking in music with a lifetime of relevance to me.

Moline, 10/14/2014 -- originally tried for this one instead of St. Louis, but tickets sold out quickly. But after having such a good time in St. Louis, we got tickets off StubHub for $100 apiece, which felt like an exorbitant expense for a concert ticket at the time. So glad I went though. The highlight was that moment of realizing that they were playing No Code in full, which felt increasingly likely starting with "Who You Are" but felt 100% confirmed when they got to "Smile," which never would have appeared so early in a set otherwise. "Who You Are" had been a white whale song for me for a long time, one that was entirely absent from setlists during the majority of my show-going years, so that alone was a hugely special moment for me, but that whole album performance was just beautiful.

Chicago, 8/22/2016 -- unless ticket prices drop dramatically, my final PJ show. I didn't love Wrigley as a venue but had a great night hanging out with my cousin, having burgers at Kuma's Corner before the show and catching up after not having seen each other for a while. "Black Red Yellow" was the highlight, and the fact that Dennis Rodman came out to recreate his phone message live really catered to the 12 year-old Bulls fan in me.

Nice! Wild how almost all of those shows (save for maybe the 2000 one) feel like they just happened yesterday. What a long strange trip etc. etc.

I think the VFC show is the best of the bunch we've shared together (STL 04, 10, 14).

From listening to the recordings I would almost definitely agree -- Ed sounded great on that VFC tour, it's a shame we don't have official bootlegs from it. I have such a difficult time ranking them based on in-person experience though. Through that lens I feel like the distance between my best and worst show is marginal -- they were all great!

- Experience highlight: I tacked this on to a trip to Michigan and it only cost me an extra $23 with the flight changes. Arriving at my buddy’s house in Austin, two other friends from Seattle were also at his house, I didn’t know they were coming so that was a super cool surprise.
- Setlist highlight: The first run of 5 slower, more mellow songs was really great. And then later they played Whipping.

- Experience highlight: “Highlight” really isn’t the right word here. I took the train down/back from Seattle. It was really something to see what a festering pile the city of Portland has become. Yikes.
- Setlist highlight: Being up close to the stage it was cool to see and appreciate just how hard these guys work to put on a show. Great run of back to back to back to back high energy songs closing out the main set up to the encore break. Also, 7 O’Clock.

- Experience highlight: I mean … I guess having pit tickets and getting to within a couple feet of the rail right in front of Mike even though we got there like 15 minutes before the show started. While all these other freaks camped out the entire day.
- Setlist highlight: Finally got to see Deep after all these years. Also loved the Watchtower / Yellow Wing combo right near the end.

- Experience highlight: Seeing and hearing from various friends around the arena. I don’t have contact with these people for years … then PJ has a show and they come out of the woodwork. I guess none of us have changed our phone numbers. Pretty cool.
- Setlist highlight: I really did enjoy the cover of Hurt (played as a tribute to fallen friends such as Cornell, Lanegan, etc.).

- Setlist highlight: Whale Song, of course! Never thought we’d see that one.
