Its so weird how Pearl Jam has gone through peaks and valleys. You'd think they started great and got worse but its not true. There are some nice live peaks IMO (98, 03, 06)
And then some of the old clips they dont sound good.
Eddie sounds weak on Release...now Jack Irons is completely killing the momentum of Last Exit. Oof.
In general though I feel like STBC is one of the worst studio -> live transitions. It always seems too slow live to me and just never captures the frantic energy IDK why. This is a better version than Ive heard in the past but still
Eddie starts Corduroy in the wrong key. And generally seems much less confident.
I think in 1995 Stone > Eddie on guitar. So there you go.
This is a crazily Vitalogy show.
Release Last Exit Spin the Black Circle Tremor Christ Corduroy
Pretty good Corduroy. I can't tell how I feel about this era's Corduroy. Jack's steady drumming I cant tell if I like or not. On this performance it worked pretty well. They got a good groove going though I don't always like his stuff. It was a very solid Corduroy maybe even very good. The longer it went the more I liked it
Wow into Not For You! They are just going Vitalogy crazy. Its strange. Again don't think Jack suits this song very well. He doesn't have the intensity of Dave A though he makes up for it a bit on this one by picking up the speed a bit which is what he needed to do on Last Exit.
But he just doesnt suit this material. Eddie sounds pretty good, but whereas Dave A would push more intensity out of him, Jack seems to be pulling the intensity out a bit
Im so conflicted. This is a good rendition of Not For You and its unique and Jack is giving it a unique feel and I both simultaneously think it sounds good and also think its not quite what I want and I have no idea what to think.
Release Last Exit Spin the Black Circle Tremor Christ Corduroy Not For You Lukin Animal Glorified G Daughter (Stuff and Nonsense) State of Love and Trust Why Go
Why Go is another good song for Jack. loved the drum intro. Very nice version.
I still find the steadiness of jack's drums through shows offputting IDK WHY
