This whole thing reminds me of the first Seattle show in 2018. The band desperately wanted to make it special, but they just can't summon magic for one show with such infrequent touring. Luckily, night two was much better by all accounts.

No Alive. When did that last happen?
It's complicated. Looking back, the last time Pearl Jam played when Alive wasn't played was their Third Man Records show (2016), which wasn't a complete concert. If you don't count that, the next most recent time were TV appearances and Bridge Show sets (late 2014/early 2015). If you don't count those, you get the most recent "real" Pearl Jam show without Alive, which was February 2, 2014, in Perth, Australia. So 8 1/2 years ago is probably the answer you're looking for.

Okay, finished I it. Was it great? No. Was it a total disaster? No way. Did it sound like they were enjoying themselves? Yes. A perfectly fine warm up show. Id wager to say its why MSG got such rave reviews.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Gigaton stuff tbh.
And if anyone has Sirius, on yesterday's Howard they talk about it in the first segment.
