I forgot to ask earlier, how did the ukulele get smashed?
Eddie smashed it.
It was part of a joke, but basically he had it, saying how it's a good starter instrument to get kids involved with music. And you can pick up a cheap one. He then said that the one he was holding wasn't cheap, made of rare Hawaiian wood, etc. He was strumming while this was going on, interjecting if the crowd could hear it. He was waiting for the technical issues to get worked out. Asked audience again if they could hear it (we couldn't) so he mocked being mad and just smashed it.
Then a tech came by with his real ukulele and strummed it and it worked fine and he asked "can you hear this one?" and it was kinda funny.
I still hate seeing instruments destroyed.
