Why does everyone continue to blame Covid for his shoddy voice without also mentioning the number of cigarettes he’s smoked over the past 30 years? He did a very poor job of taking care of one of the band’s greatest assets.
A few of us mentioned this but then Jorge was all "Don't yuck his yum" or some shit
story checks out
it's true, Ed should definitely be cancelled for still smoking
he is a role model, left wing green party guy
yet is out there promoting big tobacco
there should be no exemption for rock star status
send him to the Cancelled thread

Im excited on the one hand to see them at MSG, especially going with somebody who's never seen them before, but for the first time I feel worried because they really don't seem the same anymore, with all the downtuning making the songs sound awful, and eddie's voice sounding worse than it ever has. I really wonder what this tour would have looked like in 2020 and what toll covid took on Eddie's voice and if he's permanently going to be like this or if he's still recovering. Gigaton is also one of the albums where the live performances seem to detract rather than enhance the material, which is a shame because in their best years the live versions almost always were better than the album (Binaural and Self-Titled probably benefitting the most)
I'm not a huge fan of the down-tuning, but I went to the Ottawa show and it really didn't matter. Also, Eddie sounded great and the Gigaton songs sound great live in my opinion.

Because it seems to have gotten markably worse right after covid from what I can tell, and the downtuning and shorter shows seems to point to a stamina and range problem. Yes it could be cumulative effects of 30 years of smoking, but he did have a bad case of covid so maybe it's not a coincidence

No, it's been great. A few hiccups, but a lot of fun otherwise.
Pretty much everyone who has attended a show seems to have praise for the band/experience.
I thought the band sounded great at the show I attended and had a blast. I certainly would have liked a longer setlist and more variety but I had zero issues with the actual performances.

4 shows into this leg of the North American tour and they’ve played every Gigaton song except Comes Then Goes. They also have not repeated a song in the 5 song acoustic start.
Jeez is it true they’ve been going on around 9 even when doors open at 6 or 630? Surely that’s including an opener right ? The set list sites keep saying that’s when they started. I know they tend to be late but I expected more like 8 lol

This bodes well for Strangest Tribe or Speed of Sound in MSG or Philly... but it'll probably be Parachutes and Future Days.
