Dude. The reason they choose venues and market them is for money. They aren’t handing out tickets for free are they? They are going to play whatever venues they think can maximize a financial return for the effort and time and money spent. That’s just reality.

Less Ed Talky..

More Music Playey..

seriously, the 5 min+ Ed speeches/stories are too much

I like "Hello. Good Evening. We got a lot of songs and are gonna play a long time. Have a good night out there" Then, BLAM..Corduroy.

1. Free for all on openers and closers--no more formulas
2. If Ed wants to tell long stories, go do some interviews
3. Different stage footprint--bring McCready to the people
4. New music
5. Less covers or new covers or takes on modern songs
6. More guest performances / jams
7. Smaller venues
8. Limit Ten Club tickets per tour
9. Better use of video and lights
10. Less slow songs in large chunks

Bonus
11. First ten rows all lotteries every show

3 & 6 - oh, no. No, no, no.

8. Prioritizing lottery picks takes care of this item naturally.

1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 10 = yes

As for 9, I'm reminded of seeing Radiohead on their recent tour. What they do with their video screen is absolutely perfect and adds a whole different flavor to the show. And it's not like they're spending U2 amounts of money doing it. Something PJ should absolutely steal.

Radiohead didn't sell any seats behind the stage either. I don't see PJ doing this.

I admit at the outset that I thoroughly have enjoyed every Pearl Jam concert I attended so I am posting with that in mind:

1) I think they should revert back to opening shows with a single atmospheric tune (Of the Girl, Oceans, Long Road, etc.) to set the mood and jump into the old formula of powering through some hard rock songs. I think this formula worked well for them and managed to minimize the chatter in the first 30-45 mins of the show. I think the 3-4 slow tunes in a row gets old quick and works better when they utilize that at the appropriate time and place (Ride Festival 2016 as a great example).

2) I personally would prefer they play 4-5 fewer songs and extend/jam out the songs they do play to fill that time. I’m not asking for a Phish-style noodle fest, but there are many songs that either have or could be enhanced with the band extending out a bit and breathing some space into those songs live. The extensions should try to avoid excessive call and responses. I just want to hear the band play more and off each other.

3) If no opening band, please start the show earlier or bring back the opening band. Not so much a nod to the Fenway folks, but if you started the show at 9:00 with the opening band at 8:00, then you play an evening with... and start playing at 9:00, what’s the point for the fans?

I'd pay more to see them in smaller venues.

Focus on the quality of performance and not trying to rush though songs or appease the "Vedder 10" baseball jersey crew.

Absolutely retire songs Ed can't sing any longer.

Increase Mike & Stone's guitar volume, lower Ed's voice in the mix.

I agree. I love to checkout the openers. However, and unfortunately, Pearl Jam are one of the bands that have fans that like ONLY Pearl Jam, Thus, openers are wasted on these people. Dave Matthews and Bruce Springsteen come to mind as well. They don't have openers either.

I've seen some great openers. The obvious Pearl Jam ones - Ben Harper, Sleater -Kinney to name two, but I've also caught with other bands-Beta Band, St Vincent, Primus, Le Burcherettes, PJ Harvey. I could go on and on.

I'm friends with a few of these people of facebook. I'll post that I'm at Father John Misty, Sigur Ros, etc and I usually get a comment like "Never heard of them. I'll check them out".

I want Pearl Jam to make it their mission to aggressively alienate these people.

Pry the wine bottle from Ed's mouth.
Get Mike on cocaine again.
Replace Matt with Dave A or Dave K.
Give Jeff his cool hats back.
Give 80% creative control back to Stone.
