I've missed a bit of work this week due to the weather (I do construction) so I took on a few catering jobs to pick up the slack (I'm also a certified chef and ran a restaurant/catering biz for 5 years). Today I had a lot of prep work to do and decided to listen to the Benaroya show while I worked.

It's a fantastic show with an interesting setlist and I really enjoyed it after not listening to it for a few years. It's also the setting I'd most like to see Pearl Jam play. Smaller theater, intimate with plenty of songs they don't normally play live. They should do more shows like this, especially these days where I could see it playing to their current strengths.

Any thoughts? Opinions?

Don't think I've ever heard it all the way through. This just isn't something pearl jams music is well suited to, for my tastes. Plus in terms of energy/vibe, it's not something they do all that well either. Maybe when they're older. But again, that's just my view.

I'm not going to say you are wrong, it's your opinion, but I think many of their songs make the transition easily. Some songs may well lose a little something but I think they pick up other dynamics to make up for it.

*edit* Wanted to add that you should give it another spin on a night when the mood suits it.

ur f'in crazy. ed's voice sounds perfect for it. mike's solos n fills arent really like anything pearl jam does. and its not a type of song pearl jam does often.

fatal might be my fav song from that show.

Plan to tomorrow. I'm also a lot older than when I last heard it so maybe it can find a space with me.

I wish they'd at least sit down at the Bridge School shows these days.

Maybe when they are older? They are old as hell now.

I pop it in now & then but I also skip around on it a fair amount. I wouldn't mind seeing them do these type shows every once in a while or even a quickie ten or so date tour. I love seeing Ed solo and that's probably as close as I'll get to that. But when I see Pearl Jam I want the big arena/ampitheater sets.

This is one of my favorite live show releases. Ed sounds fantastic throughout and the venue really captures it well. That all or none is fantastic. I love when Mike hits a couple wrong notes in the solo. You can tell it fires him up and he picks up the slack quicly after that with a pretty intense solo. The show starts off great but it kind of petters out near the end with daughter etc.... I dont like th Ledbetter closer but other than a few issues i love this show and listen to it rather frequently.

Gorgeous, warm recording of some wonderful performances of some of my favorite songs. Essential PJ.

I am going to chastise all of you for not mentioning Immortality from this show. That version, for me, is the definitive live version of that song. It is immensely powerful, and probably the cornerstone of the whole live album for me.

I'm with warehouse. I didn't realize that there was a Pearl Jam fan that didn't love Benaroya Hall. Where is that "baffled" thread  ? The version of Black is outstanding. The whole show is great. Love the Cash cover to.

I agree the show does kind of sputter at the end, not the best version of daughter, not a great take on YL and while I like the song 25 minutes to go, it's a nice piece of dark humor I think they could have rehearsed it a little more. Otherwise a nearly flawless live album. Of the Girl is an awesome opener here.

I was waiting for someone to mention Immortality. It is a beautiful version and Mike just kills it on the acoustic. :worthy:
