Well, let’s see. For the record, whatever they play, so long as they’re playing well, is fine. This is my 40th show since 1995 and I’m long past treating concerts like packs of baseball cards.
That said, here are my top 3 songs I’ve yet to see: 1) Fatal 2) Force of Nature 3) Dirty Frank I expect none of them, but maybe everything is coming my up daft.
I really hope you get Fatal, that one is awesome live.
I would say it's greater than a 33% chance... based entire on the remaining salad dressing in my dish. Setlist leak is likely in the next 2 hours
Must be getting it ready for London 2. It’s cool. Fun show. Had a great time. It’s 1 a.m. here. I’m going to bed, then the beach. I’ll post thoughts later.
Pearl Jam is still fun. They’re oldish men now and so am I. I had my whole family at the show - my wife’s first since 2008, my 11 year old’s second, and my 8 year old’s first. We met my best friend from college and his girlfriend who had been hitting all the non-festival shows since London. We hung way back by the side of the soundboard so we could have space and just be together. My youngest spent most of the show on my shoulders (no one was behind us) and jumped around and sang loudly. I’d say my favorite run was Jeremy, Go, State, Porch. If you’re bored by those songs, why are you even there? NAIS was a nice surprise, too.
My wife finally saw Smile. Before kids, she regularly went to PJ shows with me. I think she’d seen them over 15 times between 2000 and 2008. She always wanted to hear Smile and never got it. The funny thing was, I finally saw it at the first show she didn’t go to (Chicago 2009), so Smile was a cool bonus.
I didn’t see anything new, but I did get to see my whole family in fucking Europe at a Pearl Jam show having a good time. It was a great way to mark my 40th. But fuck this band for sounchecking Fatal and Sleight and not playing either.
PS. They sound awesome! Light Years is way too uptempo now, but that’s my only complaint. I can hardly wait for Wrigley.
