The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I have a theory I am working on though. it appears that the band feel guilty about their middle period- No Code, Yield, Riot Act, Binaural. It seems as though they feel the need to repay their fans for putting up with those periods (lack of press, lack of videos, lack of fan fueled shitty merchandize etc). Thus, the less than inspiring setlists, festival shows, blah blah blah etc. When in fact - the reason pearl jam have become so important to so many people is because of those middle records. Those albums are the ones that set them apart from most chart topping bands during the time. It made them unique and special.
It is sad to me that they dont believe that way. The fan base they tried to weed out - seems to be the fan base they now court themselves to.

Geezes christ im getting so bitter about this band. Which is irrational but my love for them over the past 20 years was irrational. The decisions they make are just absurd and i cant find one reason or another why they make the decisions they do.
Not doing the webcast? What?
Lame.
I tried listening to Ten the other night and it actually bothered me. Like it isnt even the same band and it soured my listening pleasure.
I may have been drunk and emotional. I am not sure. Still deciding .But its weird. And this is coming from strat. So ....that says something.
Go spin some records, you'll feel better.
I know. I'll be damned if I let any band fuck with my love for their music.
and stop talking about yourself in the third person. THAT'S what's weird.
hi
To be fair, I didn't necessarily mean Pearl Jam records. Go put on some Hendrix and groove the night away!

yeah that must be it. They feel guilty so they're doing festivals and acting all nonchalant, like they didn't mean it. And now the fan base which was the target of all that is now the TARGET of all THIS

I think the problems I have with present-day Pearl Jam are probably insurmountable, to be honest.
I just don't really care for the way the band sounds when they play the old material, whether that's due to Ed's changed vocal capabilities or some other reason.
It's not that I don't love the songs - I've listened to Yield, Ten and a mixed CD of b-sides just in the last week or so - but when these guys play them now, I'm not feeling it.
Yes. I have seen PJ 70 times and went to Missoula and that will be my last show indefinitely unless they come to San Diego. I just have no desire whatsoever to see them (let alone travel to see them) after what they've become. I'm not bitter; I just can't enjoy the live show anymore given all the crap the last 5 years.
That said, also agree w/ you on the albums. I can listen to Vitalogy, Yield, No Code, and still make a smile. I heard Breath on SiriusXM today and was singing it top of my lungs in the car.

I also have no problems with EV's voice, fwiw. But I don't have the ear to really hear that shit all you audio nerds hear. I was fine with MP3 shows.
I'm happy Ed's happy. He's done enough for all of us...it was a good run. He will still put out good music but most likely solo or maybe with a new band one day.

Funny. I was actually looking forward to this and thought they might even play a new song or something. But no. Just more boring fucking setlists and pissed off fans. Fuck this.

Ed's voice didn't bother me at the his solo show a few years ago at all, it worked there. But in Pearl Jam the way he sings now is probably what bothers me the most about their performances.
