I only listened to the first thirty seconds or so, but it sounded fine.
Ed often screws up the timing of the first verse of Comatose live during the part when he only has Mike's guitar to rely on, but it seems like he managed alright there.
Kind of hard to tell much more from the quality of the vids I've seen so far.
Its not so much the setlists (although that is certainly a big aspect) but its also the little shit that maybe only an obsessed guitarist would notice. The lack of change in tone. In amps used (ed has been using the same combo now for 7 years). it just shows a lack of care or attention to or a lack of desire to push themselves - that is also apparent in some of the setlist choices. I dont give a shit they dont play Happy when im crying - But why the fuck is Breakerfall, tremor christ, last exit, in my tree, dissident, red mosquito, faithful, brain of j, no way, in hiding now considering rarities? Thats bullshit. Those are not obscure songs that should be left by the wayside.

I really wanna go 'waaaaaaaaah they don't change their pedals enough!' But I won't.
The only thing noticeably wrong in the room when you're there is the sound from the PA. they've managed to make staples like corduroy sound different almost every time I've seen them. Mike always gets buried in the mix. That'd be a bigger legitimate complaint for me over what they themselves are sounding like.

Thats not it at all and you know it but you want to be a punk. SO FUCK YOU!
Kidding.
Its more than that. The live sound really doesnt matter when you are in the room - for sure - but its on record and its on playback and its the way they approach their craft. Nothing is changing. No sonic textures no experimentation (not looking for jazzy LSD tripping music) . I just think its part of a bigger issue I have with PJ lately. A lack of attention to pushing boundaries or being great.
I dont give a shit if Mike decides to use a Boss Metal Zone over a Ts 808 - But the fact that nothing has changed in 7 years, along with mostly similar approaches to the live show, is disconcerting. They have been around for 20 plus years and have earned their spot in rock n roll history. Now, more than ever, they have earned the right to push boundaries, to alienate, so attempt something great, or fall flat on their faces! They pushed more boundaries as a 12 year old prepubescent than they have as a grizzled old wise man. I loved S/T and enjoyed backspacer but now its time for something greater. I know they are capable of it if they want it.

You are completely missing the point. And you wouldnt - If you got Life wasted you would be tossing shit. Or supersonic and walking out of the show.....
