Era of the moment: 1991-1992

Mon March 11, 2013 6:10 pm

I feel there should be a thread for this. The guys were never as good when they were young, broke but up and coming. I'm off today having few beers listening to them during these times. HOLY FUCK THEY WERE ELECTRIC....WTF HAPPENED TO EDDIES VOICE. .....

No they didn't. Eddies voice has been a straight decline since 1992. Band sound got tighter BUT vedder voice deteriorated

That's when he learned to sing due to the fact that he had to be how badly he destroyed his chords. IMO his voice peaked on Vitalogy. NOTHINGMAN was phenomenal. His highs were there. ..his growl...his scream....ALL PERFECT BLEND

well which is it, was it in steady decline since 92 or did it peak in 94 ?

They were certainly exciting in those very early years. And, yes, Ed's soaring vocals and his mystique was a huge part of the appeal. The "Animal/RIFW" performance on the 93 MTV Video Awards was one of the most goosebump raising things they'd to that point. It was raw, powerful, and separated them from the pack.

But, if I had to choose the best period of the band, it'd be 1994-2000 - a much more creative band and Ed's talents as an all-around singer improved dramatically.

Show me one show better than their unplugged in 1992. That was in queens. I was living in Brooklyn at that time

It is pretty remarkable to think of their growth within such a short period of time.

This period is pretty incredible but looking back knowing what better came - its not my favorite. Certainly being a fan during the time was pretty incredible but 95-2000 pearl jam was phenomenal.
