The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I honestly can't tell if they updated the mixes at Spotify already or if I just haven't listened to these albums in so long that I'm astounded at how good they are.

This is intriguing.

Dont be intrigued. Its just McP giving a backhanded complement to PJ.

The songs are definitely updated, there's even a lyric change on Come Back. "From where ever you are, come back" is now "From the skies up above, come back"

well the life wasted fade out is still there. I think it's a different mix. the S/T songs are a little less abraisive. On WWS the coloring that mike provides during the verses is a bit clearer.
All of the mixes add a clarity that exposes textures. The background vocals don't flatten Ed, but lift him. The guitars are separated and unmuddied. There's more of a sense of dynamics throughout ST. Marker loses some energy but "feels" it's chorus more. Almost all of that record is improved. I really like what it does for Unemployable and Gone.
I haven't listened without headphones. I almost never listen to music without headphones anymore. But with some cans on this sounds like a massive improvement.
Fuck. For like half of Inside Job I thought it was super, super cool.

I kinda thought that myself the other day...i was listening to WWS and heard some cool thing a guitar did and was whoa, thats new!. Im not sure if its the new mix or not...but LW has a lot more groove.
They're already on Spotify? These albums don't even come out until November.
I don't honestly know that it's the new mixes, because I don't remember the sound of the albums before well enough. It's definitely clearer than the originals, but it could be something else (i.e. they remastered to meet "mastered for iTunes" standards, and re-sent those out to all digital formats). It's just different from my owned copies.

Going back and forth between the two briefly, this is how it sounds to me - a different, less slammed version of the original mix. I've never listened to the album on Spotify before, so who knows whether this is how it's always been on there.
I expect the new mix should sound different again.

It's definitely not what Spotify had up a month ago when I gave Army Reserve a spin.

Oh, that's weird. The levels, panning, etc. definitely all sound pretty dead-on to the original mix, so I really don't think it's the remix, but why the update if not related to the re-release?
