General Pearl Jam discussion.

Well "Goat" would be the easiest, but as for official Pearl Jam tunes, no doubt, "Not For You" is their easiest song to play on guitar. The majority of the song is one chord shape. You can get a non-guitar player to play this song in about five minutes.
"Wishlist" would have to be their second easiest song to play on guitar.

Thanks.
I used to love trying to figure out Pearl Jam songs on guitar. When you get one it really was a rush. Back in the stone age before internet and guitar tabs, you really had to work hard to figure out what they were doing. A live performance on TV was like a gift from God. "Oh, so that's where he is putting his hands on the guitar."

That's probably a good thing. 50 year old men shouldn't sound like angry 30 year olds sounding like angry 25 year olds. The important thing is that it sounded so amazing and we have it
I completely agree with that. Some bands (eg Bad Religion) manage to preserve certain creative and attitudinal elements without the characterization of
immature. I think Yield was the first accurate analogy between
age and
artistic age as a total. Yet since Backspacer we are witnessing dotard 50 year old men.

Cheesy lyrics and message made great by Eddie's passion, energy, intensity, delivery, and amazing music

In Mikejasonda's defense, Pearl Jam are pretty fucking cheesy in general

I dont think everything's cheesy but Eddie does tend to be hit and miss with his lyrics.

"Wishlist" is definitely easier than "Elderly Woman"

As a beginner, I had the hardest time making an f chord. That is why I said it's harder than Elderly Woman.

An awful song with cheesy lyrics that becomes an amazing song through Eddie's amazing delivery, Dave's aggressive drumming, and the awesome guitar tones. Seriously this song should suck but it becomes an amazing song just on performance alone. Like it's so dumb and yet Eddie nails it.
This is true for most of the first three albums honestly. Songs that should be cheesy are not because of how amazing Eddie was, something that for me completely ran out by album 4.

Lol looks like I agreed with myself from a year ago. I didnt remember posting that but I was listening to this song today and that's what struck me.

This is probably the biggest song I haven't heard live yet. Been to seven shows since 2013, and it hasn't been played. It hasn't been played in New York since 2010 O_O

the last verse in Not For You is Eddie doing what he does best. the delivery is part of that but song lyrics are meant to be heard

If you have the Not For You 7" single, speed the outro down to 33rpm and it sounds SICK!

My last real hefty dose of acid was in college in 2003 (I like to walk away from the table up) at one point we stumbled back into my dorm. At the time I left my itunes on shuffle when I went out. So we get back and lo and behold, Out of My Mind was playing. Very fun.
